Last year when they did this it coincided with a day that I decided to ride to South Weald do most of the trails there then ride over to Thorndon and do another 25 miles there.

Clocked up close to 50 miles by the time the wheels rolled home.

A lot of what they rode were roads and the flat trails, no bomb holes on this ride. :)

Ah right, thought it looked a bit flat on the route planner, highest point is around 300ft, above start level. What about singletrack or any techie stuff?

No it stays on the motorways through Thorndon and Weald, just a few bumps no singletrack here.

In fact it looks like about 50% of the ride in Thorndon is on the main tarmac road.

It's basically a country lane ride.

Glad the trails are drying out Rich, pity I couldn't join you.

So who is up for the Saturday ride 9am ski slope/kart track car park at Thorndon.

I might be riding a bit slower as the old left leg is playing up.

here there and a bit of everywhere inbetween!
Lasts as long as you want it to basically. if you an XC whippit or a marathon man there's enough there for you.
Robert leads the ride on a saturday and leaves at 9 and i have been known to finsh by 11

    ta.

We usually ride to about 12:30, but you can leave and go back to the car park if you need to at any time.

As for a route it's not on the map and if I could explain it I would have to eliminate you afterwards, very hush, hush.

  • VERY VERY hush hush makes me ride around 70% of the time with my eyes closed  what are the conditions like over there

    Rode there Friday.

Pretty dry, boggy in some places and the bike still needed a clean, but didn't end up wet or covered in mud

Will be over for a 9am Sat ASAP,off to Sherwood Forest (Center Parcs) tomorow AM.
  • I want to ride thorndon but can't be tied to times, where's the best place for me to start from to ride what ever i can find? i want to try and find at least a couple hours worth of riding.
