Had a ride around Thorndon last night it was great i had the place to my self i saw one other person out with there dog and that was it.
At the bottom of Warley Gap where the path comes out on to the road some wa*&"r had thrown a hand full of nails and felt tacks down on the path, so watch where you are riding.
I did clear them all away.0 -
I'll keep my eye out, but that's what nearly happened to me a few weeks ago, someone had bent a small tree down into the path with the end at head hight, came around the corner and there it was.
Looked like too much damage to the roots to save it.
We live on this planet with some seriously sad people. Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"0 -

HI guys,
Sorry for jumping in on this thread (newbie to the board here).
I'm looking for anyone in or around the Southend area that is up for evening/weekend rides over Hadleigh Country Park, etc.
I'm actualy in Thorpe Bay, but lack of transport can't see me getting much further out I'm afraid.
I used to ride with the guys from Channels about 10-12 years back from Chalkwell, my legs and mind are a bit older now, so just looking for a bit of general fitness riding, fun singletrack, etc
Cheers,

An hour and a halfs ride had us back in gloomy dusk on Tuesday, so lights at the ready for the 8th September!  :idea:0

Taking that shortcut through the woods back to mine when I left you was a bit scary! Could just about make out which way I had to point the bars but it was a good job no-one had left anything on the trail!"The problem was, I was still using my eyes even though I had them shut"

Hi, I'm just down the road in Shoebury (couple of hundred yards from the gas tower) I'd be up for the weekends at Hadleigh, the last time I rode there was probably 8 years ago . I need to get a bike rack for my car first though as I've been putting my back in the back and it has a scratched some of the plastics0 -
I took a trip to Warley gap yesterday evening. Can't believe I've been living round here for a year now and I've missed it! Did head up there a year or so ago and didn't think much of it, turns up I was on the wrong side of the road and had missed out about 90% of the trails!
Should definitely have a group ride up there sometime, a bit of peer pressure would probably encourage me to hit some of the smaller gap jumps!"The problem was, I was still using my eyes even though I had them shut"

Well Nick it's a shame you have not been on a ride with me because you would have found out sooner than later about Holden Woods.
Over the past year there has been quite a few group rides.
I'm usually over Thorndon and Warley 3 or4 times a week. Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"0 -
Robertpb does indeed know Thorndon like the back of his hand.
He'll show you loads of great little routes...
if you can keep up with him!.
P.S. He always stops and waits for us to catch up.0 -
Is anyone else out tonight? If so, where?0
