New season starts Saturday! My first fixture is on he 12th, so a pain-free lie-in this sunday, but it's all going to start again soon...

    Now, to set the tone....

I reckon the 2005 Grand Slam was the better Grand Slam, the matches seem far more memorable - even now I can remember what happened in every match in 2005.

Just watched the beginning of this.

"Wales are clearly the best side in the World, but never seem to win anything"

As a kiwi, I'd dispute that...

The All Blacks just tend to have a problem with France in competitions that matter.

    Grr

Things don't seem to be boding well for England:

At least it's not just cyclists getting caught though.

As an Englishman that had an Irish Grandfather I can naturally dodge all the flak coming Englands way ('till they win the world cup- then I'll repatriate again.) For now though come on Ireland - you're due a big one.

Without the 6 Nations this time of year would be impossible to get through imo.
    Why not? My bikes.

    Fantastic... again.
The voice sining didn't sound right though.

All I can say though is at last the 'English' player getting caught doping is a South African.

C'mon WALES!! Bring 'em on

  • Its a stupid game and thats the end of it  ! Tom and Michael Kiernan (Ireland) are my Mums Family. At the same time that Michael was touring NZ with the Lions in 83 (I think), my PE Teacher (15 caps for England "A" or Saxons or whatever they were called then) found out and decided that I was on the Team. Furthermore, given that Tom and Michael were backs he decided to make me a Lock. One very cold winters day at School our Year were given the choice during PE to play Basketball (in the warm) or Rugby (in the snow). I started off toward the Gym with the rest of the sensible folk and was called back. Where are you going I was asked. The Gym Sir, to play Basketball Sir. No you are not. But Sir, Im on the Basketball team too, I need to practise, furthermore, I dont like Rugby but I do like Basketball. An hour and a half standing in ankle deep snow avoiding all involvement like the Plague while thinking about practising my finger roll and my leave you for dead crossover has scarred me for life. Thats why its a stupid game

Sorry if I have gone on about it previously

That was one of the worst international rugby matches I've ever seen. England are gonna get mullered next week :P

    Bergamasco at 9 was hilarious.

Although to be fair, his replacement - an actual scrum half - wasn't that much better!

No need for them to be awake, Rob. Solid win for Wales with lots more to offer when there's more pressure...I fear. England were woeful against Italy. If they hadn't been gifted so many points by Bergamasco, it could have been very tight.

Ireland v France was a cracker. Ireland look good and their match vs Wales should be a decider.

Surprisingly quiet on here this morning?

It's getting a bit boring now, beating England, I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for them.

They're that bad I might start supporting them when they play other teams, I like to give the underdog a cheer.

Gotta be said - England was let in too many times by Wales, against better opposition I don't think a performance like that would have won.

I think that because they were playing England, and because England played fairly well - making it a closer match - it's overlooked, but the Welsh defence was pretty poor and some of the brilliance we often see in attack was missing.
  • Yeah - Wales weren't great, lost the try count, but still won. Mark of a good side. England, otoh, won the try count, could have won the match, but didn't. Mark of a not so good side.

Ireland v Wales it is for the run at a GS. Think I'd ive Ireland the nod at this stage.

Also suspect (alright, hope. Alright, pray) England will improve as the 6N goes on.
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

Well, what a nice surprise for us Saes. 8) Everything seemed to click and all of a sudden we look like a decent team. Ok, France weren't great but then they were under pressure from the start and were forced onto the back foot. Bit of a shame that it all went a bit flat in the second half, but I think that would happen to any team 29-0 up. Still lots to work on and we didn't look great under pressure in the last 10 minutes but generally, it was good stuff. Leading the try count as well which is good. Hopefully we'll put in a good performance next week and we can have a good tour in Argentina. I think we have a few that will get on the Lions plane but with Ireland and Wales filling so many seats on that trip we should be able to work on our squad and have a better Autumn than last year. Unless it was all a one off of course. Fingers crossed it wasn't and that things are starting to click in the set up.

Wales vs Ireland next week should be good. Its going to be tight for sure. Will Ireland do the GS? I don't think so as don't think they'll fancy the pressure away from home.

Lots of chat in the build up to these final games. Apparently the Welsh hate the Irish more than any other team in the 6N...

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_u ... 949738.stm

and Borthers is after revenge after apparently getting snubbed after defeat to Scotland last year...

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/7949239.stm

Sure its all mind games and meaningless chat but might add a bit of spice.

    Anyone got any predictions then?

Last time I looked, there are several differences.
