  • :) No worries! In fact I got this panic out of the way just after I bought the frameset. I knew there'd been a recall but had a 'blindness' when I finally went for it and forgot to check. Cue frantic googling to see that I hadn't just bought a headache rather than a cool new bike...

Thanks giant mancp. As I understand it it was the Wolf SL that got recalled - i.e. the 'superlight' version that's on the Soloist Carbon and the R3. The Team has the 'CL' version which is OK I think... Happy to be contradicted if anybody knows differently though.
Absolutely right - it is just the SL that's affected, all others are fine.

Oddly though, I seem to have some kind of full carbon CL variation on mine that I'm trying to get confirmation of - the CL normally comes with an Alu steerer says 'CL' clearly on it (as on Dunstan's above), and it's not the recalled SL as this also has clear markings on it. Some think it might be a Wolf TT fork, and it seems I'm not the only one who's got it either! Odd...
  • thought i should add a few pics of my bikes, i built the trainer first and like it so much i built a kic2 aswell. just a shame the poor quality pics dont do the bikes any justice

Just built up a generic carbon frame with Ultegra - first CF bike very impressed with the ride the old Peugot is really twitchy sneeze and you are across the road, also seems to jump forward with every pedal stroke.

    _0220493.ORF.jpg

I think the heaviest component (apart from me) is the wheelset.

This is the old Peugot that its replacing as the main ride:

  • I found upgrading the wheelset to the easton set made a big difference to the bike.

My goodness... i was so happy to see at least one other Scott addict floating about. Its not top of the range but its light and fast and i have plenty of room to upgrade.... only problem I have now is where to put the computer...... sensors

it been a long time since I had a racer I forgot the sensation of pressing the pedals and going straight away
not at all like the full sus mountain bike. I didn't want a black bike like everyone else but i ended up with something pretty plain so I'll do something sweet with some new wheels and maybe jazz up all the cables.....
  • Hmm, nice white bikes on this page. Purdy ain't they.
  • Sorry it's a question not a pic but...

What size is that focus shaky?

wish I had somewhere near the amount of money to spend on a bike as some people on here do........

It's a large - 56cm - fits me really well. I'm just under 6 foot with an inside leg of 31" if that helps.

As for paying for it - praise be to the gods of the cycle to work scheme!

Use it an excuse to buy another set of wheels so you have at least two for each bike. I do. Then if you you bugger a wheel while you're out you just ring home and the team car brings a selection for you.

no preference between the 2 really, both do the job, campag is a higher spec (centaur) than the shimano on the trek (sora), although i prefer the campag hood shape

The wheels? Trek came with a servicable wheelset, but I snapped a spoke in the rear a couple of weeks ago. The zondas (on the trek in the picture) were initialy on the omega (which i've just replaced with the ribble) but i bought a set of ksyrium sl prems earlier in the year for it .The zondas have been in the garage since.So.......... i am using the zondas (campag freehub)with a 9 speed cassette on the trek with sora groupset, and the shift is spot on, although obviously cant use all 9 sprockets

Isn't the ribble (dedacciai ribelle frame)pretty though!!!! (Same frame as the Condor Baracchi)

It would be if it didn't have those ghastly graphics plastered all over it!!

And replacing an Omega with a Ribble?? I hope the Omega was a write-off?!

Ribble bikes are rarely pretty, but they tend to have a good performance/price ratio though.....

Agree about the graphics, my intention was to strip all them off ,and have some personal ones made up, but...... they are under a clear lacquer coat by the looks of it!!! Have to live with that i suppose.

The Omega is still absolutely perfect!!! unfortunately, after a year and a half, I have to admit that it's slightly too small . Was great for long days ,but when riding hard, would start to give me real bad back pain, whereas the trek doesn't. Down to the really short head tube on the omega (100mm), and adding 40mm of spacers made the front too flexi!!! It's a size S, 530mm top tube.

Will be appearing on ebay shortly
