    I certainly hope so!

I don't want none of this early morning base layer/arm warmer crap. Let's just get out there!

  • Looks like the ridge of high pressure over the south is moving west towards the end of the week so the weekend will be likely unsettled, certainly wil be cooler. Fingers crossed....

Yes found a spot in Newport I think (the other half sorted it in the end). B&B and I know there are other Dragon riders staying there. Will get info for you if you'd like but may well be full.

If you have the name that would be great, I will find the details. Many Thanks.

Is where we'll be. They may be booked up but were veyr friendly so worth calling them to see if they can suggest elsewhere?

    Couple more helpful hints.

Just as you exit the M4 at Junction 35 there is a McDonalds. Just back around the roundabout. Useful for those Energy providing bagels and black coffees. There's a garage there as well.

Parking is around 1/2 mile at most, if not about 500 yards from the start.

The start is much much better than last year.

Thanks Clanton they were very helpful, but to no avail, apparently as well as the DR there is a big concert of some sort on in the area?

We will be the guys with the dazed motorway look about us :)

Springsteen in Cardiff on the saturday night. Perfect pre-ride preparation - I know I'll be on that hill with everything I've got, but with the current state of my legs that probably doesn't add up to all that much. Bit too late to get a shirt printed with 'running in, please pass' on the rear though!

Springsteen fans dont need beds :)

On a completely different tack, has anyone else been able to download the course profile from the DR site? I just get a little red cross in a box??

Clanton, that's where we (the female contingent of Bicester Millennium CC) are staying too. 8)

Just spoken to him and he reckoned we'd be getting up too early for breakfast...oh well...you get used to it!

You'll have found the profile at http://www.dragonride.co.uk/route.php. Like you, I get the little red cross if I click on the profile to open it in another window, but otherwise it appears fine on my screen. And if I right click on it, I can save it and copy it fine. I can't attach it anyhow to either this message or a pm - but have pm'd you with a suggested work round.

I think this is the correct route... those of you after maps and profiles should be able to see them here.

McDonalds chaps. Just 400 yards from the start. Open at 6:30.

Now, I don't normally advocate them but the brekkies are just fine.

Yes, and in my view any breakfast is better than none, before a 112 mile ride... :D

I still reckon I might be able to talk the man into doing an early tray of cereal for all the cyclists staying there...you never know!

in emergency take porridge oats, soak overnight in apple juice and chuck a load of blueberries in it. Eat cold. Quite yummy

I reckon one of those plastic breakies is just luggage, that will undoubtedly start burning a hole in your gut on the first hill.

Just cook some extra pasta the night before :D

Nice little route this one. You'll hit the top of the Bwlch at around 13 miles. Such a wonderful mountain that one!

The medal times were published some days ago, but a search fails to disclose them now.

Has all the furore about sportives and racing meant the medals/medal times have been withdrawn?

Only on the beeb! The Metcheck and Met Office ones are better today than yesterday. Only light showers and only from about 1 ish. We're currently looking at 0.1mm. Which is bugger all and, also, remember that you can easily miss that shower over 100 mile circle.

Yes, but you didn't reckon on me being there, and I'm well known as a rain-god. Fortunately I won't have the lawnmower so my magic will perhaps not be as strong!
