The thing that I really like about that bike is the combination lock wrapped round the seat post.

OK, so I don't commute any more. But I just finished building up the posh bike with marginally better components and am pleased with it. To the extent I might start putting in a good 10 mile circuit before working from home. :)

The camera on my iphone is so bad now because i'm using the old 4.3 OS system. It just makes photos look weird!

My new commuter/work horse, a 2012 Jamis Aurora Elite:

Swapped out the saddle for a San Marco Regal (my fave), the bars for Ritchey Classic (the standard bars were to wide and an odd shape), the rack for a Tortec one (the stock rack was very wide and I had this one already) and the guards for SKS P45 Longboards (the standard guards were shockingly bad). Tyres will soon be swapped for Marathon Supremes as I've lost confidence in these tyres in damp conditions.

Very pleased with it. It's heavy but it carries its weight well.

Really nice. What are the discs like? V tempted to convert to them but will be costly modifying the frame...

flat barred CX (needed the drops and hate cantilevers, was running with mini Vs, which worked well but couldn't be used with mudguards)

Still need to cut the steerer down and add the disk brake that I've just ordered to the front.

Very nice indeed. I dribbled just a little bit.

Did you re-brush the frame? (If so, how? - for my future reference).

    Thank you.

Not re-brushed it yet, if you look closely you can see the outline of the removed decal on the down tube. Decals just get either sprayed with GT85 or wiped with white spirit and then I use a credit card or a windscreen scraper to remove them.

I'm using increasing grades of wire wool to rebrush. So far I've just used the finest grade and it has no impact at all.

I'm just a bit sick of having a bag on my back all the time. I'm finding it better than paniers though today was only my second commute with it.

If it makes you feel better I've also got a Carradice Zipped Roll that's slightly less than half the size. Once I get the logistics sorted I'll be using that most days. ;)

I've never commuted on this and probably never will! Still, put some Veloflex Master gumwall open tubulars on it and went for a long ride on it today for the first time in ages. I'd forgotten how great this bike is and the tyres are superb! 8)
