Saturday was good I ended up going west towards Greengairs and added another 27 miles to the route and got absolutely soaked as well. No probs Sadiq with the no show it just gives us guys a chance to catch up to your fitness level

Matt is a legend on the fixed, thought I was bad with a 53/39 on the front

Tuesday or Thursday evening suits me this week tio meet up.

On Tuesday we could arrange the Loch Katrine loop for this coming Saturday as we could get a decent sized group together after the meet up.

    Any takers for next Saturday?

OK lets make it 8pm on Tuesday 20th at the Balck Bitch then. Foz says he can't make it but Joe who came out a month or so ago is coming along.

4 of us had a good chat last night at the pub.

Us West Lothian Roadies are going to meet up for a curry in December - I'll stick some dates on here in a bit - any one fancy it?

The ride on the 24th leaves from the Korean war Memorial at 8.30. Its going to be an easier ride to Crammond including a cafe stop and finishing up back in the Bathgate Alps who can make it?

Nice blog, hope you do well and get the numbers up.

I see by some posts you go out to Loch Katrine/Trossachs and the Campsie Fells now and then, are you thinking of getting a club kit done?

Hi Bill, our blog space doesnt seem to be appearing in a google search? Is there anything we can do about this? It would be good if people were directed to our site upon entering 'west lothian' and 'road cycling' on search engines!

thanks for the encouraging comments daowned, we haven't been out to the campsies yet, all our rides have left from the KWM thus far, although myself and richyboy did an ochil whopper a few weeks back. as for kit, we will have to use the clarion kit as long as we are a clarion affiliated club.

    Hey there
    Thanks for the the encouragement
Regarding the Kit. We only need to use the Clarion kit until we get enough people in the club to make it affordable to get our own.

the blogspot keeps telling me my password is invalid so i'll post my thoughts on the turbo here, i am up for it although my fear is that with current numbers if a few can't make it there may be one person left on his jack jones but I dont see why we shouldn't book the hall for a one-off and see how we do....

Could I come to the curry night if I am off that night? I know I havent been out with you guys but working every w/end at present. I am starting a new job next week with better w/ends off and hope to get out cycling with you guys soon and the curry night would be a good place to get to know people.

Of course, It would be great to see you there!
I'll be out at the Koran War Memorial 8.30.
I'd like to practice riding in in a steady pace line, keeping the group together. How does everyone feel about riding a 5 mile loop 5 or 6 times rather than travelling a long distance?

    Guys,

Up for this Saturday. We are going to do a shortish loop a few times to ride in a chain gang and take turns up front.
See KWM at 8.30 come rain, shine or snow !!!

Saturdays ride was an easy paced 30 miler round Slamannan and Limerigg with some very icy roads in places. We had a new member turn up today, our first female in the group, called Lesley who wants to get her fitness to the next level. As we are encouraging new members we kept the pace very sensible to make sure people come back.
Anyway we missed the rain and had a good social run with plenty banter from Fatheed, who incidently beat me to the 30s in Avonbridge yet again.
Next week, due to the dark mornings, we would like to make the start a bit later at 9am as Fatheed has to leave his 30 mins before the start and it's a bit dark and dangerous around 8am.
So 9am start at the KWM next Saturday 15th Dec.

  • Hi All,

Found this thread after a search for West Lothian Rides/Routes and would like to catch up with you all next Saturday at the KWM. I've noticed that kick off is usually 8:30 but now 9 (suits me as I'm a half hour ride away!!) I'll keep checking to confirm its still 9am and hopefully (unless its snowing) see you on Saturday.

    Looking forward to it.

    Brian,

Welcome to the thread, apart from snow that's the only thing that will stop us from being there. Look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

    Yes Curry night still on:
    8pm Wednesday 12th December.
    Ashmaan Tandoori Restaurant
    25 Mill Rd, Linlithgow Bridge
    Linlithgow, EH49 7QJ
    01506 845097

Next door to the Spar in Linlithgow bridge.
I'm bringing my scales to weigh the food so no one eats too much!

I'll be at the KWM on Saturday at 9.00. lets think of a route that avoids any ice, maybe head down to Crammond? I've found a 3 mile circuit near Winchburgh, we could test it out to see if it works as a group training circuit

We are going from strength to strength! Role on Saturday....

I was in Stevie's bike shop in Whitburn yesterday telling him about our club and he put me in touch with Jon from Bathgate who phoned me later in the day to say is up for riding with us, I believe he has contributed to this thread already. If he doesn't make it out this Saturday he will, soon! Excellent news, he also knows a few others peeps he reckons would be up for this. Jon sometimes rode with the ERC but why travel through to Auld Reekie when we can meet up in our very own Bathgate Alps??

Brian B, look forward to meeting you tomorrow over a balti and half a dozen cobras!

Briant Fitzof, whereabouts will you be riding in from? I come in from Whitburn and will be passing through the lights at East Whitburn/Redmill at 0835 this Saturday if you are interested.

My computer is on the blink so I don't know how much I'll be posting over the next few days but I'll see some of you tomorrow, and the rest 9PM (NOTE CHANGE OF TIME FOR SAT) at the KWM Saturday.
  • Hi Guys,

    Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for the invite to cycle to KWM Fat Head, I live in Livingston so coming from the opposite direction unfortunately. I do work in IT though so feel free to pick my brains (what's left anyway :o ) on Saturday if your computers still on the blink.

    See you all Saturday.

Hi WLR, been a while since I posted.

I will deffo try and make Saturday at the War Memorial, thanks FH for the call, have emmyed some of the Westlthianites that I know as well, sounds like a great idea and at least it gets me away from the turbo!!!. Fitness will be poor as pranged my back ice skating the other week, but ice is unavoidable up in them there hills lol.
All the very best for now.

Spoke to a friend from Falkirk at my work and he was wondering if he and another of his friends could meet with you guys on Sat. I hope I was not being presumptious but I said to him that they would be more than welcome.

I hope to make this Sat as well but I see you guys at the curry tonight.
