what a cool photo, who took/how did you get that one? what camera/exposure etc?

Glad you like it! I had a standard SLR camera (Nikon F60 I think), I took it with an exposure of about 1/4 second I think, then panned with Chris to keep him clear but the long exposure blurs the background.

I liked that action photo too, John - excellent.
In fact all the photos in this thread are better than any I have, and mostly because you've all outdone me on tours. I enclose a day trip to Llangollen from Chester, over Horsehoe Pass. My Dawes Super Galaxy with one pannier removed is hiding behind a pole but I like this view across Llangollen to the Berwyn Hills and the Eglwyseg escarpment.

Here's 3 pics of my new expedition bike, Thorn Raven Rohloff. Looking a bit naked at the mo (i.e. sans panniers etc) but lovable all the same...It'll be used in anger in Oz...

Here are a couple of pictures of 2 new Dawes Ultra Galaxies being built and then on day 1 of a tour round the world. They are fully kitted out and travelled 70 miles on a sunny first day - a good omen we thought. The gutting thing is that these are the only photos I have of the bikes as they were stolen the next day - not a good omen. Luckily we had taken all the bags off so it was just the bikes and we've been able to sort out new ones (plug: at a very decent price from Cambridge Station Cycles). Happy memories - we'll re-start our tour on the 23rd of this month.

That's terrible, John.
Ever since I had my bike stolen while it was locked to the police station railings in Cheltenham (I was inside reporting the theft of my father's bike at his workplace) I've taken extra precautions - but nothing will deter a professional or determined thief.
We sometimes get gangs from Ireland and Liverpool coming here to Chester. They steal up to a 100 bikes a day and van them abroad. There's an epidemic of it these few days with two police bikes and even those custom new post office bikes stolen while the postman was a few yards away!

Here's our bikes outside some cottages at Agios Geogios in Cyprus, where Mrs Uncle Phil and I went for a week's gentle cycling a couple of weeks back.
And here's Mrs Uncle Phil making her way back to civilization after a visit to the Avkas Gorge and a night at an idyllic wild camping site among the dunes and bushes near the foot of the Gorge.
This was our first fly-ride tour - we've never trusted our bikes to an airline before, but we did this time and got away with it! We flew from Manchester to Paphos with Excel Airways. Bikes arrived OK and we had a week pootling about the western end of Cyprus - very pleasant although not as warm as we might have liked (guess that's why the flight was cheap though - off season). We took our camping gear and spent all week under canvas, only paying for two nights - it's easy to camp discretely almost everywhere.

Plan to use it for commuting and touring duties.
Steerer is a little long, soon to be trimmed once I have decided on the correct bar height.

Where did you purchase your LHT frame as I am looking at them and can nly come up with lime green, not to keen on a grn bike, How are you finding the ride and was the build straight forward?
Rogue0 -
Roguecycle
I bought the frame as used, it had only been built up without so much as a mark on it. So I'm afraid I can't help with advice about buying the colour that I've got.
Bike built up a treat, no real concerns about anything really.
I like the way it rides. It is a little heavy but very stable and , like a giant supertanker.
Very solid, and so easy to ride - not at all twichy - an ideal commuter / tourer.

Thanks, Google shows the red/plum and black are available in the states but UK green, never mind its the ride that counts[:)]0

Alan Partridge: That was Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell, a song in which Joni complains they 'Paved paradise to put up a parking lot', a measure which actually would have alleviated traffic congestion on the outskirts of paradise, something which Joni singularly fails to point out, perhaps because it doesn't quite fit in with her blinkered view of the world. Nevertheless, nice song. It's 4:35am, you're listening to 'Up With The Partridge'.

why are there so few photos on this thread?
to show a photo click Img button at the top of the message square ; you will see Img appear twice with the cursor flashing between them; paste your link between them . photobucket does it for you.
this is my old one , evolved from a cheap hybrid.
then a lightweight trip on a giant scr2. gears not quite low enough when I got really stressed on steep hills.
and the latest , a Super galaxy converted to straight bars by its original owner. An excellent bike for the job , with a very stiff but light frame and perfect geometry.
