Just taking the chance to jump on the bandwagon there are some photos of me with bikes on Flickr. The bike I use in the Alps is not mine it belongs to my wife's uncle, it was custom built by her cousin for cycling into remote mountain areas for ski touring in spring...
by the way the first photo in the sequence in is on Arran, if you are looking for the mountain bike just browse through a couple more... or check my blog for occasional cycle related posts. Yes I am shameless.**************
Best advice I ever got was "better get a bike then"

Two resting tourers in Kerry in 2005, en route to Killarney from Waterville, my wife's bike in front and mine, with yellow Altura pannier covers and Ortlieb front panniers, behind.
This is a picture of my bike in a much less laden state on a trip (stopping with friends or staying at B&B's) up to my sister-in-law's place near York earlier this year.

I toured GB north-to-south this year, 1600 miles, camping as I went, via western isles and west coast. Next plan is wales.
Bike is Montag. http://www.pbase.com/canyonlands/image/634005760 -
Carlos, I see you had the same problem as me - where to put a Zefal hp pump when you have a bottle cage...
I got a chromed clamp-on pump clip and fitted it to the seat post, so the pump goes vertically between it and the bottom bracket. It's an uphill climb to the bottom0 -

nice idea cycladelic, I might look into that. It was a puzzle at first. The bike came fitted with brazed-on clips on the rear seat stay but my wheel lock obstructed it hence the cross-bar solution! It's a bit of a compromise.0

Plenty warm enough for cycling up the hill, though the wind had some bite at the top (that's why I had to put the jacket on). Camping in Caherdaniel that week, temps went down to 1C and 3C at night, just what I needed when trying to get over a 'flu-like virus, which was the reason for the rest day in Caherdaniel.

T800, I love those sandals.
I was in Austria one May and the snow at one pass was 2 metres deep: I got some very strange looks from passing motorists. It's an uphill climb to the bottom0 -

On one of my previous bikes, I use two Zefal "doodahs" - Velcro straps that have shaped plastic spacers - to fit the pump under the top tube. I am not sure if Zefal still produce them, but you might find some in old old stockist or on eBay.It's an uphill climb to the bottom0
