Has anybody else tried a sportswear chain called Sports World? I stumbled across the branch in Kingston a couple of weeks ago.
They advertise that much of their stuff is 70-80% off, but it's not cycling specific as you'd expect.
Plenty of cheap well known brand sports and walking shoes, from just over a tenner. Short sleeve sport shirts, Umbro œ4 , YSL œ10.
Ski socks under œ2. Adult ski goggles œ13.5
    .......... and so on

    Well worth a look IMHO

  • Also tkmaxx have a range of goretex (etc) skiwear which might be useful for commuting as its would be too baggy for speed. The glove are probably too thick to work gears?

fwiw, I prefer to buy thin outer shells and then there is the option to wear more layers

Don't know if these gloves are any good, or how long the batteries last, but they are not expensive:

Cheap citrus based degreaser called Viro-sol by clover chemicals. This is much cheaper than finish line degreaser etc.

    http://www.cloverchemicals.com/prod_cat/virosol.htm

You can also order free samples from them (I got a 250ml bottle free - no p&p even which came to about 7 quid!) - theres a pdf where you can print, fill in and fax to them to get the free sample (and some other of their products if you wish). Been put onto this by car forums where people swear by this stuff for cleaning their alloy wheels - some bloke even sold this under a different brand for about 4x more until someone else found out the origins.

I have used this a couple of times to clean my chain with good results - I don't use it neat but mixed about 50/50 with water. Useful as well for general degreasing (like cleaning the cooker hood!). Doesn't smell as nice as the Finish Line Citrus degreaser though....

Seen the 5 litre bottles sell for about 7 quid.

Saw this on 'What budget race wheels.....??' thread:

    http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/index.ht ... &p_start=0

This is a fantastic price for a pair of lightweight wheels. Only Campag left.....

(Credit to Nicksun for spotting this)
  • Oldham cycle centre are doing a good deal on Vuelta Chromelite with tyres and tubes for 150 quid. Nice deal.

I have just picked up a new heart rate monitor from my local Aldi. It was only œ12.99 & has a 3 year warranty, bike mount & is ECG accurate. It looks like it cost 3 times as much as it did (which it would if it was Polar) It also shows the current heart rate as a percentage of your maximum which is what I was after. My old one was from Aldi & i've used it for almost 2 years with no probs- other than it needs a new battery. There was only a couple left at my local store so be quick if you're interested!
