Seemingly trivial things that annoy you

The latest Honda HRV is being marketed as a "Full Hybrid".
What next, a pure bred mongrel?

For pure bred mongrel see cockerpoo, caverpoo and many others😀

So "Full Hybrid" is one where it can operate purely under electric power, but all the electricity in the battery is generated by the car, with no option to plug it in.
If you drive in the city all the time, there's no reduction in emissions at all, is there, just a heavier vehicle? And it generates all the electricity from fossil fuel.
Even within the bounds of bad naming of a hybrid as being full anything, it's misleading to say the "Full" version is one that is missing one piece of functionality.

I am in full agreement.

It's exactly the sort of thing Ma & Pa raver would want as their Toyota WD40 yawnsmobile thing doesn't work longer than a minute or two on battery.
It also solves a problem for people who live in places where at home charging is not an option.
I'll stick with my Fiat500/vespa with a lid but I get it.
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

What problem does it solve that a petrol car doesn't?

That's not really an answer, is it? Also, it's not clear even if it's true yet.

Isn't full hybrid just the standard hybrid approach that Toyota have been doing for years with the Prius etc.
Advantage is that when you brake you're recapturing the energy rather than turning it straight to heat.

Do regenerative brakes only work at higher speeds?

I think all hybrids do this. Even a 2007 BMW does this. The key differences are the extent of energy recovery and that the energy can be used for propulsion.
I have never been convinced it is any better than a frugal engine in a lighter car. I drove one of the mild hybrid Fiat 500s for a week in Portugal and although it was very fuel efficient, I put most of that down to how dangerously underpowered it was (for the autoroutes).
I presume that mild hybrid means the engine is always needed, regardless of how the battery is charged (i.e. just regenerative braking or also using alternator), full hybrid means sometimes electricity only with the battery being charged via regenerative braking or alternator, plug in hybrid is what we would sensibly call a full hybrid.
The all will be available after 2030, but I assume mild hybrid would be first to be phased out.

Are we talking about how to videos that last 5-10 minutes and include the same information you get from glancing at a single diagram?
2 -
Totally!
"Watch 'X' get destroyed in 90 seconds!" Video lasts 9 minutes. I've learned to ignore.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
I would love to see X destroyed in 90 seconds. 😄

I have learnt to avoid anything with "wait for the end" in the title
It's never worth the wait

Very true

I like a bargain, so sometimes use To Good To Go. Trivially annoying thing is when I receive multiple loafs of bread. Very hard to use that much and therefore defeats the point which is to avoid wastage. I do freeze it, but that doesn't really help and just means I have a freezer full of bread.

The term "From the get go". What is wrong with "start" or "beginning"? What is a get go?

Doesn't bother me particularly. First appeared in 1966, according to the Partridge dictionary of slang, and might have peaked according to Ngram.

Recently my social media feed seemed to contain lots of links for tying different and interesting knots. After a while I gave in and bought some specific rope for tying knots as I only had horrible blue polypropylene stuff. Now I have decent cotton rope all the feeds have dried up!! Most annoying !

This could go on for ever, though that won't be noose to people who know their knots.
