England all out in 55 overs but scoring at over 5 an over. England may throw some games away that they could/should have won but it's great entertainment.

That was definitely not what I was expecting to see when I woke up - went to bed after the Bethell wicket (43-4), and I was expecting to see we'd been rolled over for 100 or something. I was just thinking it was starting to look a bit easier to bat when Bethell got out as well :D

Pope's making a pretty good case against his return to #3... I actually think Bethell looks alright there, certainly steadier than Pope.

I actually think they had a point this time - the ball was moving around, there was one with your name on it.

    England got 280 in 54.4 (5.12/over), NZ got to 86-5 in 26 (3.31/over) - that's a 47 run difference over 26 overs.

Cook just saying on the highlights that he would have tried to soak that up - leave and defend - but that's more like what NZ tried to do and it's not really worked for them. Cook also saying they should go straight to short ball against Brook - he tends to go leg side to give himself room (essentially turning straight balls into wider balls), which means he is more likely to top edge short balls (and thats been the best way of getting him out).

Scoring 300 plus in a day of test cricket used to be seen as pretty positive stuff. England have almost 660 over the first two days...and have bowled NZ out once!

Scoring 115 from a total of 259 all out when coming in at number 6 is pretty impressive especially when only two of those below you score double figures.
