Any cricket lovers on here?

It was some pretty daft shots early on, then nobody was left when the conditions improved...
I kind of understand why Lawrence came out swinging, but the others should have known better (this summer they've actually been pretty good at moderating when needed, not sure why that has changed this Test).

Success in beating England is getting Root out cheaply. Some things don't change.

Carrying on after tea on day 2 with two spinners when he wouldn't have chosen to bowl them in better light has lost this match. I'm convinced of it. Gave away 69 runs because there was some booing on day 1.

The women's England-Ireland ODI is free to watch on Youtube by the way - England have set a target of 321 with Tammy Beaumont making 150 not out.

Somewhat pointless... 275 run victory lol. First game was at least slightly competitive.

This could be interesting and if given the Wrexham Netflix treatment would potentially raise the profile of the tournament and cricket in general.
0 -
Potentially, would be great to lift the profile, everything at the upper level being behind a paywall really doesn't help though. The county streams have been great for getting more eyes on.

Why aren't they calling them by their real name - the Hula Hoops?

I was thinking more a documentary along the lines of what they did for the football club creating publicity outside of the UK.

Apparently, many of the counties are going to experiment with putting the county streams behind a paywall, which is completely stupid in my opinion - I am not going to pay to watch Lancs getting hammered again (specially since I am already paying for Sky Sports and TNT Sports), but I do tend to put the free feed on if I am just at work or whatever.
Incidentally the Lancs-Somerset game could be really interesting, and free on YT.

I think McElhenney has the capacity to get very into cricket - seems like a sport that Americans should like more than they do, since it has such a broad statistical hinterland associated with it, in common with the big American sports e.g., NFL (of which he is a big fan), and baseball (ref. the moneyball type stuff).
(before the civil war it was the most popular sport in the US, but got superseded by baseball which doesn't need a prepared pitch)

First international sports fixture was the US vs Canada at cricket.

Yeah, a top pub quiz question!

Liam Dawson yet again showing England what they may have overlooked through the past few years. As a Hants fan I can't say I'm sorry

Abject batting again.

Feels so weird that domestic cricket is still going on. Not helped by it not exactly being an Indian summer.

We still had club cricket last weekend.
They made the point on BBC comms that we have always played cricket in September, although not always quite this late. The first Test in 1880 started 6th September!
County championship is definitely finishing later than usual though.

I guess The Hundred is pushing back county cricket.

England bowler Mark Wood says he cannot pick his children up because of elbow issue - BBC Sport
This doesn't sound very promising for Woody's future

Going to be a lovely day out for anyone who has tickets to Lords today.
0 -
If anyone hasn't bought yet, there's still tickets available from as little as £160.

I'm envisioning someone putting their back into a short delivery and it just plugging in the ground.

Blah blah Lords drainage system blah blah.
It does need to stop raining first though.

28 for Livingstone off the last over - that's the way to do it!

Would have been worth that £160 to see the Aussies thrashed like that.

Hm this looks like a bit of a road...
