Not the first time I've heard that rumour; on a MTB forum there was a suggestion also about a link up with Scott-Sram.

Wow, that wasn't one I expected. Maybe he likes Scott bikes as much as me 🤣
Hadn't clocked that the team owner had bought Pinarello bikes which of course sponsors Pidcock already.
You would imagine that means getting Q36.5 onto Pinarellos too.

Pablo Torres, who came very close to winning the Tour de l'Avenir with his ride on the Finestre, has signed a 6-year deal with UAE-Team Emirates.

Some strong results:
Sees him there until he's 25, Pog will be 32 by then - be interesting to see if Pog stays where he is, or moves about a bit, probably depends heavily on whether the UAE team continue for the long term.

Double Vuelta stage winner, Pablo Castrillo, confirmed on a three year deal to Movistar.
Ineos missing out on a signing to Movistar sums up their current state perfectly.

It very much does.

I think that's the perfect move for both parties, as it means Uttrup Ludwig won't be the sole leader, it takes pressure off of Niewiadoma and she'll fit well into their racing tactical plans.

Pidcock on Instagram saying he's been deselected from Ineos team for Lombardia. Is the exit door swinging open?
2 -
Sounds like he's been kicked through it...
1 -
Yes I'm sure he's entirely blameless...

I've heard a rumour, from someone who is well connected in the UK cycling scene, that he's been fired.

"Fired" would mean some major discrepancy happening between him and the team. Intentional or not.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I'm sure they'd be happy to have him off the payroll. Seems to be getting a huge salary for not very many results, which cheapskates ineos really won't like. I'm sure Bernal would be gone too if they could find someone to have him. I don't see this team being around in 2027

I think he's best off out of there, it's a rudderless team, best outcome long-term for him in my opinion.

Pidcock seems to have been pretty rudderless himself thus far, I’d have thought the situation suited him. Whatever’s lead to this I think long term, Ineos will regret not having managed this/him better.
2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner0 -
Wouldn't it make sense for him to go to Alpecin? He's not really a proper contender for Flanders or Roubaix over MvdP, would be a great asset for San Remo, would be leader in the Ardennes, would have plenty of freedom for MTB and CX and a bike manufacturer who sells all types of bikes. The team has no real GC contender and an excellent structure to not fold under the pressure of his name.

It’s as if Sky had been bought by Mike Ashley, rather than Jim Ratcliffe.

You say that as if there is much difference.

?
Jim Ratcliffe doesn't do anything out to the goodness of his heart. There will be an agenda.

I don't doubt there will be an agenda.
Their highest placed rider today was 15th, one more in the top 50 I think.
With the form Pidcock was in, there was a strong possibility that it would have been a top 10, and arguably a decent shout of a podium to round out the season.
Given their lack of results, that seems to be a hell of a way to sign off and let other prospective riders, who might consider riding for you, know how you make certain decisions.
They are 11th in regards to the number of pro victories this year with 14, but there is a massive difference even to the 10th placed team.
Narvaez and Hayter are off, they are responsible for 3 of those 14, Pidcock grabbed another win at Amstel, and it remains to be seen whether he'll be staying with the team or not.

To highlight the quality of those 14 wins, of the 20 highest (PCS) points yielding results for INEOS this season, only 2 were for victories (& only 6 were for podiums)
