Janja Garnbret takes the women's climbing gold as expected, but not without some drama. Looked like she'd hurt a finger during the boulder round where she was slightly less dominant than usual and then looked a touch under pressure in the lead. A fun watch

Hayter out of Madison
Does raise a question over why he rode the omnium though

Dutch rider has just head butted Ollie Wood off the track in the Madison. Should be thrown out - terrible move and totally deliberate.
Huge crash for Spain and Belguim, look like they were taken out by a Kiwi

and Italy pull the change rider off his bike

Why is the Dutch rider being allowed to carry on... that was deliberate. And Hatch seems to make no comment.
“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

Torres of Spain pulled from the race, not a happy bunny.
Portugal, Italy and Spain very tight. Portugal now in gold place

Irony of it being the guy who started the inward lever trend on the road that caused the UCI to get involved with concerns over handling. Should be a DQ though, ridiculous thing to do

Portugal take gold.
Bonkers race, but Dutch guy should be banned for a while. Disgraceful, and total unnecessary.
Danes & Italy on podium

Crashtastic
Great race though, such a tight finish

Did the Italy crash change cost them gold?

60.1 km/h average speed for winners

I've no idea what that's like in comparison to any other madison, but it sounds ridiculously fast

Ganna's individual 4km pursuit is about the same speed.
I think the team pursuit is just over 65 kmh (if my maths is correct)

Ingerbritzen gets his gold in the 5000 m in a slow race, but it was his season best.

Georgia Bell takes 14 seconds of her PB to grab a bronze in the 1500m
edit: correction should of been 4 seconds

I think that's why he didn't seem overly bothered by the 1500m. I suspect he knows the others have his number now in that event and the 5000m is where his best chances lie.

I have to say that the lack of race results graphics has been annoying.
It’s appalling that can’t be bothered to put times on the screen.

All the times are on the Olympics website before the race has finished on my TV if you want the details.

Looked like the French guy in the relay took a shove from the South African.

Would be nice to find another gold from somewhere to sneak above the French on that medal table.

The French guy tried to cut across too soon.
The Jamaican girl used her baton to play the drum on Adeleke’s tummy.
Bol needs to give up trying to catch Super Sydney and concentrate on her relay running. It’s more profitable in the gong department.

The USA won 34 medals in athletics.
Next best were Kenya and GB with 10.

Gonna guess that scholarships and sponsorship play a large part.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
A large number will have been gold too.

Only silver in the Taekwondo for Cunningham.
Started well, then faded

France seem to have found another gold somewhere. Need a big day in the velodrome tomorrow!

Had a gander on the Dutch side to see what they made of it. “Justice for Hoogerland” was about it.
Normally like van Schip, but yes, remarkable he didn’t get a severe punishment

They weren't kicked out for that? Remarkable.
