Not sure why that small group including GB also didn’t chase the lap as they were half a lap up on the bunch. Felt they could go for the sprint then complete the lap.

There’s not much of a bunch to take a lap from now, smashed to bits.

For me, tactical racing involves changing your speed in a race because of the other competitors.
So the men’s 2 up sprint in the velodrome is the ultimate tactical race.
In lane racing that’s a pointless thing to do. Just run your fastest race. Period. Ignore your rivals. Either you make it or you don’t. No tactics.

Lots of teams throwing their race away but leaving riders to just gain a lap whilst those who’ve been going for the sprints mark each other.

Dutch have this. GB have been very passive after the first few sprints. A bit disappointing really

Dutch threw it away in the end and GB take second. Felt like they could have won that, the Dutch and Italians got very soft lap gains.

Anyone else get confused watching the madison? 🤔

The Dutch lap was about as easy as it gets as the bunch had split and they only needed about half a lap when they attacked. It felt like for 4 or 5 behind, including GB, missed a easy chance to also take the lap just behind them.

I found it a lot easier to follow in the velodrome than on tv.

No. It's very clear, and they just go round as fast as they can.

Good shout on the Dutch girls, Rick. They looked good…….right up until they didn’t.

USA narrowly take the women's 4*100 from GB. Think there were a couple of slightly dodgy handovers, but given the rain that's not surprising

WTF, Carlin has lost his head there. Bloody well handled of Hoogland not to fall. Restart, but I'm unsure why that's not a DQ to Carlin, who's already on a yellow

Pretty sure GB would have comfortably won that relay but for the rubbish last two changes.
Particularly the final changeover, as Nieta almost had to come to a stop.
DAS finally found her missing speed. (Rick would approve)

Carlin takes the sprint bronze, but I still don't know why he didn't get DQed

How did Carlin get away with that?
“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

They certainly were in the men’s race!
(no they were poor, just not as poor as GBs girls)

This Randy chap doing the trackside chat for Eurosport sounds like he’s practicing for a gig on CBBC.

Feel for Amber Anning, breaks Christine's national record and misses out on a bronze because of her.

Watching the triple jump you realise that 30 years on there is still really nobody you can compare to Edwards.

My mistake, PB not NR!

Radzi? He's an ex-Blue Peter presenter.
