Hadn’t realised WVA crashed , just saw footage on Insta, caught a barrier and went down quite spectacularly but got straight up. Looked quite heavy though.

I am amazed that she ran at all, as she’s back on the track this morning for the first round of the hurdles.
The women’s road race this afternoon is almost at their maximum length (158kms) and covers much of the men’s course.

Probably. It must be so chaotic as a rider in a race like that, no radios to understand what's going on, all that noise from the crowd and groups going off the front and coming back all the time, so it's no surprise.
He did well though, the first time I saw him was at the finish, so he rode almost a perfect race.

Together with Laporte not realising they were going for a medal it makes you realise maybe that radios do serve an important purpose. I am far from convinced that no radios means better racing.
There was a time yesterday when radios wouldnt have made much difference as the TV coverage was so poor even Rob Hatch et al had little idea what was happening. It was after the first or second ascent of Montmatre. I mean it was clear(ish) who was leading but the situation behind was a mess with coverage giving no clarity who was where. Actually, behind the front two, it wasnt clear until the very end.
And yes, he did do well.

It was a decent race - of course it can't prove no radios contributed to that but for me it adds to the argument for ditching them.

I'd rather have radios. People not knowing what they're supposed to be doing because they don't have the right info isn't great racing
Oh, and this:

Surely there's an argument that you shouldn't forget someone like Remco has gone off the front though, that's part of racing too no?

I would wholeheartedly agree with this!

Skeet shooting normally has VAR apparently, but they didn't bother for Paris. GB just lost gold/silver shoot-off in womens skeet when a chipped first clay (clearly shown on BBC slow mo replay) deemed a miss by refs.

More gross incompetence by the TV directors at the womens road race- leaders bombing up Montmartre- but no, shots of the crowd are way more important
