Hahahaha. If you needed any proof they really have run out of ideas...

Re removal of NI being a pre-election gamble, one would have thought that given the significance of NI overall (one of the "big three" taxes, along with income tax and VAT) the abolishment of NI would be a long-standing, flagship policy of a party approaching a GE. To be introduced as a concept as it has suggests no thought has been given to any detail, which is actually more concerning than a desperate, cynical policy that has at least been though through.

This Frank Hester chap sounds lovely.
Just the sort of guy a government with shrivelling support needs.
Very much enjoying the stupidity of various spokespersons trying to claim that comments specifically attacking Abbott's gender and race were 'not based on gender or race'.

Credit to Kwasi Kwarteng for calling that excuse horseshit.

A story breaking that a party donor has suggested an MP should be shot in the week the government defines extremism is superb timing.

We're back into the ' "It's wrong!" but unwilling to say why' territory. Tying themselves in knots to avoid saying it was racist and misogynistic and sounding like bumbling, dishonest fools. £10m seems to have bought their tongues and their consciences.

Haha, Johnson territory now.., making decisions after the horse has long left the stable. They've only just realised it was racist.

What were the comments? I heard the bit that he said she should be shot which is crass especially in light of the murders of MPs in recent years and what happened with Trumps incitement in the US but did he just say it out of hatred for her or was there a specific link to her colour and / or gender?

"It's like trying not to be racist but you see Diane Abbott on the TV, and you're just like I hate, you just want to hate all black women because she's there, and I don't hate all black women at all, but I think she should be shot."
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Not sure who they were interviewing on Breakfast but assume he was something to do with the Tory party. He confirmed the comments were racist and sexist but that they would accept another donation from him.

They really do need to be smashed to bits as a political party, there is not a single thing about them that is any good.

Not quite sure why they're handing the money back to the racist guy.
That's moral hazard right there. Get a load of people who can read polls who donated to be racist to get their money back.

The suggestion of using the money on equality issues within the Party made more sense (on paper - I wouldn't trust them to spend it in any genuinely positive way).

Step 1 form a medical software company
Step 2 invest in some political donations
Step 3 win some contracts
Step 4 be a horrible racist and get your donations back

They should give it to Diane Abbot

They’ll probably give it to a hitman assuming the guy was giving them instructions

The Speaker not covering himself in glory again by ignoring Abbott’s constant attempts to have her say in a debate where she is more directly involved than anyone (aware the Speaker isn’t a Tory but this is the thread it is being discussed in).

They shouldn't hand money back - punish him by keeping it. That amount will come in handy to fight the good fight against leftiebollox 😊

What they should really do is sort political finding out so that parties aren't forced to go cap in hand to unsavoury characters.

Is it still a punishment if the Tories keep the money but he gets what he paid for?

Not sure, but it will still go to a worthy cause.

Funding an election campaign that is doomed to fail?
Yeah, definitely the best use of £10 million that I can think of...

You really should read Private Eye. Richard Brooks keeps ferreting on stuff like this, doing what the rest of the press really ought to be doing.

Of course it is. They were running out of money not that long ago. Still, at least they seem to have eased off flirting with Russian money.

I wonder what a racist sees in the Conservative Party which is worth £10 million to him

Obtaining contracts which provide an even bigger profit margin. Quids in.

Blimey. Profits of about 50% on a turnover of £80m. Sounds like the £10m is a kickback.

At what point is it pure corruption?
