Think you are assuming that who I've voted for reflects my political beliefs.
BTW, someone put up beer duty last year.

I suspect a good chunk of any extra I get in my pay packet will go in extra Council Tax to make up for the black hole left by cuts to the amount central Government are giving them. I don’t have a problem with that as services are in a noticeable decline now but I’m certainly not expecting an extra £100 of money to treat myself with.

So you think they should have cut taxes further?

Let me put it another way: do you think that taxes should be lowered overall?

No party is offering that. You may as well ask me if I think there should be more sunny days overall. Until we sort out productivity, the overall tax burden is not going down. If anything it will continue to rise.

Cut the state pension and get all of those doddery choppers back stocking shelves in Tesco. #productivity

You didn't answer the question.
Although the tories appear to be offering it as soon as it is prudent to make cuts.

"Prudent" is an unfortunate choice of words as it will always be linked to Gordon Brown. How did that pan out again?....
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Don't think we're short of shelf stackers. That being part of the problem. Another being a government uninterested in governing. After a brief flicker of hope in the Autumn Statement, they seem to have given up on the idea of encouraging business investment.

Labour and prudent are two words you don't often hear in the same sentence.

Do you think recent Tory policy could be summed up as prudent?

The recent budget announcements seem to be. What are you saying is imprudent in your view?

What, using up every last penny of imaginary cost savings to be able to pretend you're giving everyone a tax cut? And running borrowing right up to the line of the fiscal rules.
This is absolutely f***ing hilarious.

Isn't he just raising tax by slightly less?

Was common when Brown was chancellor. You know, during the boom years.

Yes. But only mine

Lol. Sure they are. Just like they said they wouldn't raise taxes.
The change to NIC was based on reductions in spending that absolutely nobody believes will happen. Productivity is in a rut and inflation and demand are pushing public spending demands up, so short of another salad PM, tax cuts are not happening for at least the next 5 years. The way the war is going in Ukraine, maybe 10.

Not sure why the LOL?
Do you think they should have cut taxes more, less, or raised them in this last budget?

Ah yes, Gordon Brown - the man who eliminated boom and bust 😀

Inflation is below historic averages and falling. Plus we want to stimulate growth a bit.

The OBR wasn't complaining so what's your point about fiscal rules?

You talking about train punctuality again?

Which is precisely why I said Hunt was stupid to use that word. Do go back and check the OP.

Which part of my statement above is incorrect?

Why?
"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
If I remember correctly the OBR commented that the claimed spending reductions were entirely unsubstantiated so all they could do was take them at face value. You know what my point is.
