81/3! Edged and gone.0

Another couple and you're into the bowlers, India don't really have all rounders...0
-
At the moment it's not looking like a terrible decision to field. Need Kohli out though.0
-
Run rate has come right down, under 6 now. They can't afford to take too many risks.0

Kohli gone! The silence is deafening!!!0

If Rahul goes soon you'd think Australia are well on top. Google win prob has it near enough 50:50 at the moment.
India needed a good contest, they've had it too easy so far0 -
This is going to be really close I think0

The Aussies have been very good in the field. Saved a lot of runs that may well be crucial.
Chasing down 230 odd is going to be a nervy watch for all invested emotionally.0 -
India have had more misfields in the first 4 overs than Australia did all innings I thinkJimD666 said:The Aussies have been very good in the field. Saved a lot of runs that may well be crucial.

India need some magic soon...0

Bowling first is proving to be an inspired option. Everyone thought bat first would be their best(only?) chance.0

The odds on an Australian win must have made a few people a nice chunk of cash.

Yeah I definitely thought it was the wrong choice! I thought India's batting powerplay proved me right initially, but then obviously they turned it round. Till Australia's powerplay when it looked like a bad choice again!!JimD666 said:Bowling first is proving to be an inspired option. Everyone thought bat first would be their best(only?) chance.
Could have done with another wicket or two to keep it interesting, Head got out too late.0 -
How Australia played that was a case study in what England did wrong when we had India in a similar situation in the groups - just knock it around after the early wickets fell, take the singles, punish the bad balls. Whereas we went for the huge swipes and just lost the rest of the wickets.0

Mad first day of the 2nd test between SA and India. 23 wickets taken
SA skittled out for 55. India were 153-4. Lost the last 6 wickets for 0 runs in 11 balls. 153 all-out. SA 62-3 at close of play
Apparently the pitch was 'lively'

I followed India's collapse on cricinfo as it coincided with my lunch break. You know it's a total meltdown when the wickets include a run out, always a sign that the batting side have lost their heads.

Markram top scores with 106. Elgar next best with 12 🤯
India need 79 runs to win.
Should be a doddle.
Should.....

And indeed was.
107 overs for the entire test match. Guessing there'll be a inquiry to the state of the pitch.
Weirdly only seems to happen when the ball dominates the bat. No such thing when it's the other way round.

Funnily enough Cape Town was also the venue when one of the flattest pitches in recent history was produced and Stokes hit his record test score during what was overall a dull draw. As you say, no action taken then.

There is sometimes action taken over pitches that result in few wickets.

Yes, thinking about it you are almost definitely right at county level, I can vaguely remember such stories. No idea about test matches.

It happens at international level as well.

So another attempt at winning a test series in India starts tomorrow. Foakes is said to be playing with Bairstow as a specialist batter...yes I know. Apparently Stokes has lost 10kg(!) to get fitter.

England doing England things in India. From 55-0 to 60-3

Hartley getting a baptism of fire!

All three reviews burnt in 14 overs. Not particularly good captaincy from Stokes

Well that all went well…..

Letting someone that inexperienced opening the bowling seems ludicrous.

There's been all sorts of abuse being chucked at the England team for their current performance. The simple fact that India haven't lost a test series in India since 2012/13 (England) seems to have been ignored.

We went in with an unbalanced attack including 2 rookies and various batsmen were out to poor shots. If we swapped Hartley for Anderson/Robinson we would still have 3 spinners.
Yes it is a tough tour but we have not helpe ourselves.
