The remaining fixtures are not kind to them given they also have a NRR problem. Aghanistan need to play South Africa whereas New Zealand play Sri Lanka and Australia play Bangladesh.

If they can bat first against SA, they'll have a chance of not needing to worry about NRR.
  • Mitchell Starc doesn't review a catch he definitely didn't get an edge on.

Ultra edge shows the noise the umpire heard

I'm all for a change to the laws here myself to say that should have been out bowled anyway. Remove the need for the bails to be dislodged.
  • This is an amazing match. Maxwell now 147 not out and in absolute agony every time he moves.

It's like he's got a broken leg or something, but if he fails they lose.

That may be the greatest ODI innings I've ever seen.

    Wow. 👏👏👏
  • Unbelievable performance from Maxwell. Double hundred on one leg after being dropped on 33.

Think he was dropped earlier on 20odd as well.

    Absolutely incredible batting.

problem is that the lighting up bails are heavier

Ridiculous innings from Maxwell, must be one of the greatest individual performances.

    Should've dropped Bairstow already.

Decent start unravelling once more. No faith in this lot batting the 50 at the minute.

From BBC Text - The penultimate over reads one, six, four, wicket, six, wicket. Chaos.

I'm struggling to contain the joy and exaltation I feel in beating that powerhouse of cricket.

We're up to 7th in the table!
  • Yeah, think mentally I'll put the cricket on the back burner until the India tests. Much like some of the players did a few weeks ago.

I think England didn't do too badly - good start, poor in the middle but a great stand between Stokes and Woakes to get to a more than decent total. They bowled pretty well as well, Willey and Woakes were very good (this Willey chap seems good, maybe he should get a central contract 😉). The bowling has not been too bad in general, it's the batting which has been abject.
  • Afghanistan at it again. Batters have no idea where the ball is going to go when Rashid's bowling.

Barstow is a walking wicket this morning.

    Hopefully that's means he'll make a ton.

I'm probably more likely to win the lottery TBH.

    Halfway there then.

Stokes looks in decent touch, shame it's too late...
  • Pakistan dominant in these final few overs. At least England’s collapse has arrived later than usual.

I'd argue that 100 runs from the last 10 overs is hardly dominant bowling 🤷‍♂️

Where was thus earlier in the tournament then!

I think choosing to bowl first in the earlier matches was a huge mistake, Willey and Woakes have had the ball moving a lot under the lights and the dew hasn't really been any sort of problem. They just have the whole team out sweating in the heat of the day for 50 overs...

Exactly, if you make it to the last 10 with wickets in hand the tail has licence to smack it around a bit - doesn't really matter if you lose a few wickets if you're still scoring at ten an over.

The problem in the other matches is that they keep getting bowled out!

    Willey deserves better from England.

Not sure the Dutch are going to chase 411....

One bright side for them: They were looking at well in excess of 450 at one point

It's looking a little worrisome for New Zealand at the moment. India going along nicely. 38 runs from the first 4 overs
