Donald Trump

Is it not more of a reflection about what is happening right now in Gaza?
I never cease to be suprised at what some people will say "I don't know" to, by the way. Particularly the "was it exaggerated" question presupposes that they know what actually happened. Ignorance isn't the same as denial.0 -
Who said eloquence in US politics died when Obama left office?

It seems increasingly unlikely that Jack Smith's case against Trump for trying to subvert the electoral process in Georgia will be concluded before the election, despite seeming to be a slam-dunk case. Eileen Cannon, the judge, is slow-walking everything to the max, which is not surprising as she was appointed directly by Trump, and he got very lucky with her being selected for this case. If Trump is good to his word, and gets elected, he'll utterly politicise the justice system from the top, with an Attorney General who will bend to his will. The US would be in a very dangerous place, if he only sticks with what he's already said he'll do: he's not making any secret of the retribution he'll rain down on his political foes and anyone who's dared to try to counter him.
It looks likely that he'll get an extremely large payment judgement against him for defaming Jean Carroll, as he's been adding to the defamation virtually every day since he was adjudicated to have raped her. It would be quite amusing to se Mar-A-Lago forfeited if he refuses to pay up.
I think that there are another 89 indictments somewhere awaiting him, but the way the US justice system works (or doesn't) probably means they'll wither away in some dark alley...

Just a thought, but he was pretty ineffectual at doing most of the things he promised to do last time. I don't recall Mexico paying for a wall. And many of the new things look like they'd take a lot of effort. He seems quite a lazy **** so ought we to take a lot of his promises with a large pinch of salt.

He's a destroyer, not a builder. He could do a lot of damage in four years, damage that could last a generation or more, even if it's only by trashing all the norms, more than he did last time. He and the actually clever destroyers who manipulate him (Bannon et al) will have learnt lessons from the things that withstood his last attempts. If you follow all the vote suppression & gerrymandering cases being argued around the states, there is a concerted effort to make it very hard for Democrats to win... it isn't just one deranged mobster trying to do his worst.

Looks like the Republican nomination is going to be his then.

I'm not sure what the calculation is. Doesn't want to lose, but at the same time he's not positioned himself as the obvious next candidate by coming second.

I think whoever comes 2nd, Trump will try and destroy as an opponent. DeSantis may believe he has done Trump a favour by dropping out and endorsing him, trying to position himself as vice-president. Which may come in handy later on.
However, Trump says he doesn’t need his endorsement.
On the Americast podcast, it mentioned that the primaries have cleaned up into a 2 horse race, with a few republicans willing to back Haley as the one who can beat Biden. Her vote won’t now be split with the exit of DeSantis.

De Santis isn't a candidate for running made. Trump will try to demonstrate that he isn't one of other of a chauvinist or racist.

Sadly it is a popularity contest, not a competency contest.

trump's been using race to attack haley for a while (she's the daughter of indian immigrants)
he's a long track record of racism, cruz, obama, even mccain, but his supporters of all races seem to just lap it up and bay for more, it's bizarre

F*ck me! That orange tw@t needs a crossbow bolt in the temple. I can't believe people are voting for that Tango'd buffoon. At this rate we'll be getting Bo'Jo back later this year. Let's give the running of the planet to the dolphin and porpoise coalition. They'll do a far better job. Might even get a rover to land on the moon of they can get their flippers to control a mouse and some tech.
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Just in case you're wondering if Trump might not be losing the plot...

As much as Trump appears more cognitively challenged, can't help but feel the attacks would land better if the Democrat alternative wasn't Biden.

True, though not fomenting a failed coup does go in Biden's favour (as well as an economy that seems to be doing rather well).
As mentioned several times before, how the US has ended up with two such old men as the binary choice is beyond me. The only consolation that at least we haven't got Sunak (if he survives that long) v. Corbyn for the next UK election.

Hopefully the economy doing well will be enough to get Biden a second term. However, in a country where someone has, whether intentionally or not, caused an armed insurrection against the previous democratically elected Government is still a serious contender who knows?

This is reaching a bit, it both starts and ends mid sentence.

It's one of many examples, and even if selective, his inability to finish well-known words and phrases is, er, interesting.

Pretty much nailed on to be Biden v Trump this election now.
Who said Trump couldn't be President again?

I think Haley's tactic now is just to hang in there on the off chance that Trump is prevented from running for either health or legislative reasons. There's probably enough 'anyone but Trump' money lurking in the GOP to keep her chugging along.
Probably rules her out of VP contention but she's young enough to play the long game there.

Interesting that some on here think the economic situation should play into Biden's hands.
The polling and news reports coming from the US are that the economic situation is playing into Trump's hands due to the cost of living rises having wiped out any other economic gains, and USAians felt wealthier under Trump.
It really is looking like he will become President again unless Biden is replaced with someone younger, or Trump is locked up and prevent from standing.

They're threatening to sue him for using it without their consent - can't see it happening though.

Well, Morrisey is one of the people that's as batshit as Trump

Morrisey apparently stated he would be willing to push the button to ride the world of Trump so as to save humanity.

We'll assume that you meant 'rid' 🙂

Different form of batshit then, or is he jealous Trump can trump him for it?

Morrisey being Morrisey everything he says seems to contradict everything he says.

Dunno. He seems to be miserable now.
