Donald Trump

Here's the context.
Incidentally, In my advanced superior opinion both Trump and Biden should have a brain scan. Trump is 77 and Biden is 81, which is great and that's no slight on the more mature in life, but President? Regan should have been precedent for a scan.

I still wonder how the writers of Spitting Image felt about their Reagan 'The President's Brain Is Missing' running gag.

Bit of an aside, but why is your avatar a picture of Paul Scholes playing a trumpet?

Perhaps I ought to Google Mr Scholes to see if I should be flattered or insulted.

OK, admittedly my trumpet playing does sometimes have that effect on the viola players sitting directly in front of me.

Not The Nine O'Clock News has stood the test of time as well (may have posted this before but I'm getting a bit old and forgetful)

Funny how a shooting at the winner’s parade for the superbowl no longer generates any international interest.
If anything it just makes it an even more all-American experience

Not a great day for Trump. Another $364m in fines, bringing the total he owes to over $1bn.

Aye but. As per Leona Helmsley "we don't pay fines, only little people pay fines".

It would amuse me greatly if he actually is brought to book on various ways... I suspect if he'd carried on hustling like he always had, without being POTUS, he might well have got away with it. But because he's such a narcissist, he just couldn't resist the temptation to be POTUS, which has put his practices (business, mobster & sexual) into the spotlight. And now the only way he can see to escape justice is to run for POTUS again so he can stop all the pending cases, if he can delay them all long enough.
This is quite a good post from a SCOTUS lawyer about how Trump has been trying to kick the can further and further down to road to evade justice:

Are the Supreme Court Republican lawyers the SCROTUS? Just wondering…..🤔

What is the sanction if he doesn’t pay the various fines? I assume there is also a lengthy appeal process he’ll go through to drag things out.

With the Carroll case, he has to put up the $83m (or whatever it is) as bond if he wants to appeal. And now he can't borrow in NY, and all his NY dealings are being overseen by a court-appointed judge.
So it could get interesting, though not sure what sanctions they have and how quickly they can be applied.
It would be amusing if he had to offload Mar-A--Lago to help pay.

Rather enjoyed this. I know it's not Trump, but they are on the same team.

Relatively, yes, but it needs to be part of the 'narrative' before then to try to open a few people's eyes about the continued manipulation for nefarious ends. It's pretty clear that Carlson is knowingly doing Putin's bidding, and better that it's not ignored but called out.
It'll be interesting to see how Nikki Haley uses her time in the limelight... she's getting bolder about calling Trump out.

Nah the whole thing. The legal stuff, the fines etc.
If he gets elected it’s all absolved. That’s the reality. And Biden is walking around like a man who’s deep into his 80s.

And Trump is slurring his speech and losing track of his sentences. Of the two, my guess is put of the two Biden will live longer.
The election will come down to independents and, in turn, to whether Trump has a criminal conviction. Polls are extremely volatile at the moment. Even those are partisan.

Meh, both candidates seem to be suffering age related decline. Trump seems worse, but it's a pretty crud situation.

Paucity of younger alternatives. Is Jimmy Carter still alive?

A population of over 345 million and this is the best they can come up with?
Said while also looking at Westminster...
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -

George Conway, estranged husband of Kelly Ann Conway (who still is on Team Trump), and who was well on the right side of Republicanism pre-Trump (he was part of the team that impeached Bill Clinton), now is doing his best to prevent Trump's re-election. He very much is of the view that it's important to keep on publicly airing Trump crazy, as the more that's in the spotlight, the crazier Trump's reactions. Then keep repeating the cycle so it's even further into batshit territory.
But yeah, agreed, can't help thinking Democrats should have found someone younger, however skilled Biden still is at the political stuff.
It's all pretty grim.

Probably not going to move the dial, but the GOP's 'star witness' in their efforts to impeach Hunter & Joe Biden turns out to be connected with Russian intelligence, according to the DOJ's filing on his arrest. "Russia, if you're listening..."

You couldn't write the script.

If you did write the script, if you called a Russian plant 'Smirnov', you'd probably get the sack as the script writer.
