    Trialling these. Stuck them on the mtb for now as won't be needed this side of Xmas. 11.99 from px. Schwalbe snow studs. Think m+ with studs....

    :D I've no doubt that we'll have some wintry stuff this year so N+1 is a good thing to have. Given I don't use the MTB much sticking them on there and being able to grab it for nasty days is a plus.

    My B'Twin FC5 winter bike (also my best bike/sportive bike/commuter bike). I considered buying a dedicated winter bike but I genuinely love riding this so much I just thought I'd stick some mudguards on it and get out there. Into my third winter now.

    New winter steed, funded by selling the Ti frame I posted earlier in this thread.

    Now with mudguards, dirt and a few hundred km....

    I love this bike. Coming down Broomfield the other day and I was thinking there was no reason why this couldn't completely replace the Cervelo.

    Details:

    Canyon Inflite 9.0 with the following changes...

    1) Swapped the 44/34 chain rings out for a 52/36 set as this is going to be for the road.
    2) Changed the Ergon saddle for a Brooks Cambium C15. I never rode the Ergon but it didn't look comfortable and I wanted to try the Brooks.
    3) Fitted guards. You have to use the ones specifically for the frame because the mounting points are on the inside of the forks and the stays.
    4) CX tyres off and road tyres on.

    It's a brilliant bike and although I've said it before I may as well say it again; discs are good and hydraulic discs are awesome.

    are they studded tyres?....ice and snow in Yorkshire now/this next week so good choice if so!.................

    Yep. Cheap Schwalbe snow studs. Probably more risk of ice here in Wales (than snow) but a good bet for the 7 am commute.

    I'd be interested to see what you think of them, I would much rather ride to work than drive when it's like that. Cheaper if you crash!

    Tyres are 25c.

    I'm considering a similar do-it-all build myself. The Saracen Avro is the leading contender but that is worth adding to the list.

    The Avro looks nice but it's got a lower groupset than the Canyon and has mechanical discs rather than hydraulic. The Avro is also more expensive.

    Whilst I love the Inflite I've got a thread in the Commuting Chat forum and how poor the service from Canyon is.

    First go tomorrow. First impressions is that they roll ok, a bit better than Marathon +. We'll see.......

    Wow. I don't think rolling resistance is a fair term for the snow studs. They added about 4-5 minutes onto the commute. Not bad really. But what a workout! Almost constant cycling.

    They actually roll very nicely. Comfy. Grip well.

    There's not much ice out there today but it will worsen when there's moisture around this week.

    Oh, and they don't really turn per se. In fact it's quite hard to turn the bars.

    After an on/off road ride yesterday I think I'd pretty much convinced myself I really want one of these ATR Tripsters, with a decent wheelset for road and another for tubeless off-road tyres. I reckon that looks brilliant Dodgy! Happy with it?

    Yes, delighted. It's replaced another titanium framed bike as I really wanted discs. It's everything I wanted, bags of clearance etc. Feels really 'muscular' (best word I can think to describe ie) when riding. Not quite stiff, but really strong.

    There's a massive thread on singletrackworld that's worth reading if you want more info on the Tripster ATR.
