Like I said before, you can enjoy yourself in any car. Doesn't need a sporty badge on the back, like car journalists would have you believe.

    hahaha
my old 1990 honda civic 1.4 AUTOMATIC , bog standard sack of corr blimeye would cruise at 120 along the Mway and never complained once.
if you need a VTR badge to do that speed there is something wrong.
  • WTF are people on in this forum?! I doubt any of you have even driven a VTR...

Thought about going one bigger? I've been using a W reg citroen xsara 1.4 (insurance group 4). It beaten a 1.6 escort and a 1.2 renault clio... and when I've let others have a go, they say its much nicer to drive than what they have, and its coming up to 140,000 miles.

    Because they're cheap. Thats all.

Vauxhall Corsa'a are one of the best selling cars in the UK, are you seriously suggesting they are good also?

They are bought by people with no brains, whom see a car as something to get from A to B in the cheapest possible way. They have no concept of enjoying a car or a drive, because you can't in something like that .

  • I used to drive a Saxo, some guy on page 3 said/implied it had no ABS or airbagags, it does but I think it is only ncap 2 or 3 star rateing which isnt great to say the least, but not many small cars of this age are! It handled OK, mine wasnt a VTR, just a forte but it was alrite, nippy feeling. Now ive got a C2 which a lot of people dont (my girlfriend) like and a lot of people really do like (my mates!) I recon the VTR is a great choice, theres not many cars which are going to cost the same in insurance ect that will handle worlds better!

Should do what a mate of mine did, landrover defender 90 pickup, 2.5L turbo deisel, thats a beast, great for bikes to! Hes only just 18 and insurancce was just under œ2000... probably cause they think hes a farmer, but ive seen him spin all 4 wheels...!

    Well aren't you the coolest...

Lets face it, you'll rarely be on a road big enough to do 120 on. And quite frankly, if you do, do 120 your a fuc*ing tit. If you get caught that's your licence gone.

I hate it when people say stuff like 'Its got a 1.6 but its slower than a 1.4...' I'm sure the car engineers that built it, know a fu*kload more about there market and the car than you do. At the end of the day, your never realistically going to use the extra 10 mph, but you will benefit from the better fuel economy.

Get the VTR, they are cheap as chips for what they are.

I don't know about you bunch of losers but I cruise along single lane backroads at 160 in my metro 1.1. Seriously its not even that quick. Who knows what I could do with a VTR.

That's not really that impressive. I have a 1.2 Clio and have to admit that it is unbelievably slow compared with other 1.2 superminis.

This kinda reminds me of a girl at work a few years ago, who insisted her boyfriend's Almera could do 150. "But I looked at the Nissan site after you told me last time, and it says the maximum is 130mph", I told her. Her reply? "It's how you drive it."

    Some people will believe anything.

saxos are not only chav they are hairdressers cars allthough apparently they are one of the quickest car for their insurance category but more speed just means longer off the roads when you get caught

  • Whats all this crap about top speeds?! Stop it now. Its not importiant. So what if one car does 115 but one does 120? The 115 car will be geared totaly different to the other, and may get to 60 quicker, which on roads, is whats really importiant. Top speeds means sod all. Now shut up you bunch of kids and let the people who know what they're talking about get on with the conversation.

Well said - i'd rather have a car that only had a top speed of 100 but got to 60 in 5 seconds and really pulled uphill than one that got to 60 in 8 but had a top speed of 130. Acceleration is so much more useful that reminds me, you could look at a 205 stdt instead og the gti, diesel, better for insurance and very torque-full.
