I have a 1.25 FIESTA and its got more than enough omph to scare me round the corners. My friend just got a MK2 Golf GTI, doesn't even pay for the insurance either, insured under his dads garage. [:(]

I love all these chave round here with small engined saxos and corsas with BIG ZORSTS.
They sound ludicrous. But what's even funnier is when they try and get past you on the dual carriegways. Lots of noise, but it just ain't happening - And I'm currently driving a 306 Turbo diesel! Which I just got back today after an engine rebuild! Woohoo! Now I can drive myself to the trails again, instead of relying on my mates.

its superb when you hear the loudest most rediculous exhaust note then see a saxo trickling round the corner.

First year of driving, big inexperience and big insurance premiums and you're talking about getting a low-tech shopping trolley with a big engine and no ABS, airbags?

Get something with a little engine and learn how to drive, then think about getting something quick.

Just get a fiesta Mk4 like I have got, can get you some pics if you want. Mines a Zetec so its quite nippy, but its a really nice car, good to drive, loads of feedback thorugh wheel due to not having the stupid brand new power steering where you get nothing thorugh the wheel. Good MPG, I get about 40, its a 1.25 ZetecSE engine.

And they're suprisingly big inside, I couldn't fit properly in a 4 door escort, but I can fit in my 5 door fiesta.

Very easy to drive too, especially reveersing as its small, but then that will be true of saxos too.

My mate has a saxo and his doesn't have power steering, or atleast he says it doesn't. Also, his indicator sometimes clicks itself off when it shouldn't.

My major problem with the fiesta, is not only that my dad has one, but it has no left foor reast for when you're not dumping the clutch.

I had a 1.1 saxo last year, they rattle a lot, the front wheel arch is in the drivers footwell so all your pedles are nice and close together (which on long journeys wasn't comfortable), things had a habit of keep popping off on mine, e.g, interior door panels when you opened the door. It didn't feel safe to drive in at all. My Focus feels a hell of alot safer, doesn't fall apart, and doesn't handle like a robin reliant gone wrong.

Underneath they are basically a 106, the 106 is widely regarded as one of the best handling front wheel cars to date.

Reviews frome people that actually know what they're talking about, probably. Clarkson seems to like them too.

OK, that's why they were one of the best selling cars in the UK then? Because they're crap?

They were mass produced, so sold with better deals. they were rubbish on the crash test and fell apart. just cause they were a good seller doesnt make them good. Just means that it was affordable.

Mass produced. Like just about every other car your gonna' see on the roads today. They don't do very well in crash tests, like every other small car I can think of designed in the mid nineties then. Yes they were affordable, in my book that's a good thing.

Yes, but Lee_erm, it doesn't stop the car being crap does it, even if it is affordable. Tesco Value food is affordable, but tastes crap.
  • depends how it was looked after, if you buy off an old person chances are its in good nick, if you buy from a chav expect it to be thrashed at every occasion so it will be crap

Haha i love it how much s**t people talk on this forum.
I really couldt care if they are associated with chavs, compared to most of you im probably am a chav but hey, it's my life. Secondly It will be a fully stock moddel with no 'phat zorsts'.
As Lee_erm said its a 106 underneath and it is reviewed as one of the best handerling small cars.
I have been driving since i could reach the pedals, around tracks as my dad races his Escort RS so i have learnt how to handle a powerfull car and am not gona drive it into a hedge.
The model i am lookin at has a drivers airbag as it is the 2000 (x).
Not botherd about insurance as i will only be paying œ100 a month, Grandparents covering the rest. Im spoilt so what!

Thinking of mass produced cars, I saw a beautiful 1960s mustang today. I don't know which model or engine, since I'm not a Mustang expert, but it was stunning...
  • Ive been in my mates vtr numerous times, yes its a chavvy car and all that but like someone has pointed out, if youve got big feet dont bother, the pedals are all too close and its nearly impossable to drive it in vans. Ill admit they are fast as in having witnessed 125mph according to the clock fast but they handle like a pile of shi[/s[te, they rattle and everything breaks and theyre expensive to insure and tax. I wouldnt bother wasting your money just so's u can say VVVVTTTRRRR.

  • my mates got an escort 1.6 and we did 100mph on rivacre road near the vauxhall car plant which is very bumpy. thats a crap car and rust and everything but it drives quite well and to be honest i wouldnt mind having it because i just want a car lol
