Emigrating - to a new forum

Perhaps not so much Brexit or Covid, rather the re-vamp of the forum about 2019; it seemed to cull a number of members.

I was wondering the other day if I used an emoji in an email whether people whould automatically assume my account had been hacked.
Here's a meaningless yellow thing 🥲

We also lost quite a few posters in the mid part of the last decade because we had some proper twats 'moderating' the place, like Velonutter.

Yes I've a vague memory of that - wasn't that after the move from Cycling plus forum to Bike Radar?
I've never understood why this forum needed so many sub forums. Why mountain bikers need a different off topic section to road cyclists and commuters another. Maybe a more compact forum would have encouraged more traffic and survived?

Good suggestion, but maybe a bit late!

Hello, and goodbye. I can't even find the emojis on here now.

Have met him briefly. Was fairly normal, not tall. No idea where you're getting anorexia from. His mannerisms just seemed typically Dutch, which rubbed a few people up the wrong way because they didn't spot that.

While you were posting that, some folk were already out on their pushbikes. 64 wet and muddy miles ridden.

Wow, I'm so impressed, as ever 😉

How did the shoulder go on your ride?

Cycle Chat has way more sub-forums (far too many in my opinion) but is much more active so not sure it’s that.

Well, farewell then CS.
Farewell to @Manc33 @Aggie @Cleat Eastwood, and the memories you've provided.

You’ll find Cleat Eastwood over on CC. You’ll soon recognise his threads/posts.

I knew it was Uncle Drago, as soon as I clocked the 'tone' of his advice thread.

This was definitely an issue. I didn't re-join for months as it wouldn't let me register and I couldn't get hold of anyone at BR. On the off chance I tried on day and it worked. Had it not done so I would have given up. I suspect a fair few were in a similar position.

I wouldn’t want to out him on there though, bit of a mercurial sort and might disappear again.

Are you joining CC (apologies if you already have)?

Absolutely fine, ta Vince. Did 90 minutes - rather slowly as haven't ridden a real bike since first half of Jan - but not a squeak (literally 🙂 ) from my collar bone. Just need to get a bit of fitness back so will do a commute on Thursday to restart the normal routine.

So long BR.
Will miss the heady days where you literally couldn't keep up with recent posts. Won't miss the re-formatting/revamping or whatever you want to call it.
Some decent refugees carried over to CC and we can add our flava...
16 years and 53k posts. Holy moly.
