It is also patently stupid that this nutter nat con conference thing in Brussels was shut down.
Moronic.

Yeah, there should be some court they can apply to about the infringement of their rights 😁

I guess you meant the Belgian court? As they've already reinstated it.

Part of me enjoyed seeing gobshite Farage being "cancelled" but another part was annoyed that it was giving them the publicity they are so desperate for when hardly anyone would have been aware it happened otherwise. The cynical bit of me questioned whether they had somehow orchestrated it themselves to play the victim and get attention.

tinpot fascists, suppress them they whine, allow them they spread hatred and oppression
history tells us that some things are best killed with fire

Ugh it plays into their victimhood hands so much.
I think it's really important for the "liberal" left to be actually liberal. There's way too much discourse around limiting people's ability to share views. That is not the way to be persuasive and it breeds resentment and fuels this kind of mental nationalist nonsense.

Was commenting on the irony of a bunch of clowns who routinely rubbish human rights.

That's a bit harsh on the EU 😉

I could see why they might be concerned about a gathering of undesirables.
Must look up Gove’s new definition of extremism 🤨

Dubai being underwater due to flooding has amused me. Pity the underwriters....
Maybe they weren't fasting properly enough and god punished them or something.

clearly the officer was completely wrong and needs disciplining, but calling for the commissioner to resign is just nonsensical
it does seem a curious coincidence that he just happens to be a campaigner and there just happened to be someone conveniently on hand to record the incident
obviously no way they were there in case there just happened to be some incident

Why should the police officer be disciplined. He's been put in a very difficult situation. The truth is the Jewish guy's presence is antagonising the marchers - so do the police remove the Jewish guy or do we give them the authority and the manpower to start arresting protesters and if it causes a riot are we happy for them to get the riot vans down ?
Yes of course I recognise that Jews should be able to walk freely anywhere they want - I'm not blaming that guy but neither should we blame that police officer.

Telling the guy his presence might antagonise some undesirable elements amongst the marchers and they would escort him elsewhere for his own safety is entirely fair and a reasonable response to try and keep the peace.
As SG says, it does seem quite a coincidence the head of a campaign group for Jewish rights just happened to be there. Looks like he wanted the fuss he created. Poor choice of words by the policeman involved, but seems he was trying to do the right thing.

Swap out Jewish for black and see if you still feel the same.
If protesters are triggered by someone’s race they should be done for racist abuse. They can change their behaviour, he can’t change his race.
That this is even a discussion shows how people will tolerate anti semitism.
Very disappointing to see this attitude here

I've changed it for black and it makes no difference. The policeman was trying to look after his welfare.
Yes, the mob would be in the wrong but harder to control. He took the easy option. Works similar with football fans.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Wtf is this some racist apology post? I think we all need to grow some fucking balls and treat racists as they deserve to be treated, and not make excuses or apologies.
What a disgraceful post. Shameful.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This Israel Gaza conflict has brought all the racists out in the open and the tragedy is that people seem to think that the conflict makes being racist ok.

Meh. What should the policeman have done in practical terms?
I've no shame.

Arrested the racists if there were any, obviously. All he’s doing is protecting racists here. Appalling.
Why are we tolerating people who are triggered by someone’s race? Lock them the fuck up.
You are on the wrong end of this argument. If the police protect wrong uns because of “practicality” we might as well not bother with police.
Shameful shit.

We need more police to achieve that. That is a separate issue.

Think this is a bit simplistic. Don't think they got this particular incident right and the Met have admitted as much, but very easy to point that out from home with very little context and no responsibility for public safety.

There does have to be some consideration of practicality.
However, the police seem to have had a mare here as you say, imagine headlines where an officer ended up seeming to arrest someone for being "openly black".

If the rozzers can’t police a protest if a Jew walks by because it will kick off, they should not have agreed to allow the protest as they couldn’t police it, or they need to police it correctly.

I'm pretty sure when there have been far right protests and counter-protests the police have put most of their efforts into keeping the two groups apart.
