Not sure I’ve ever seen a race neutralised after a crash before. I guess it was due to it being so early.

A few years back there was a stage in Brittany/Normandy that was neutralised early on as they ran out of ambulances after a big crash
Yes think I remember that - similarly early in the stage wasn't it ?

This isn’t going to be a fun day. Will be a struggle for the sprinters. I wonder if they’ll give any leeway to riders missing the cutoff time.

Another group of around 30 riders getting a small gap but going nowhere. Smaller group of around 10 getting a small gap.

Kelderman apparently 90” off the back. Petit getting dropped and I suspect he’ll abandon. Three riders off the front with a handful of seconds including Alaphillipe.

Chaves in difficulty too. Martinez and Lutsenko bridge to the front three.

    Chaves abandoning.

The crash seems to have had the opposite effect on Martinez

Got the makings of a strong break now with Geshke trying to close. Martinez takes the first KOM.

Don’t think this is going to stick either unless the peloton decide to take it easy on the descent.

Big split in the peloton. Alaphillipe opening a gap on the break but they’ve basically been caught.

    Might explain the gap.

The Weasley Pidcock family on ITV 4 confirming that Tom has had this stage in mind since the announcement...

(Or at least that Pidcock Sr. has...)

A big group has gone clear among the chaos. Probably about 20 riders including Kwiato again and Landa plus a few from that original Alaphillipe group. Powless has made it. Gap is 22” but was 33”.
