It's funny to see teams and riders being criticised for doing the exact opposite of what we previously criticised teams for.

So who do we blame for the moto impeded sprint?

Me, I blame the organisation for not barriering off that last section and the fans for encroaching.

Primarily the photographer moto. It shouldn't be riding two abreast with the TV camera when the crowds are like that.

He shouldn't have been that close in the first place.

  • As Thomas de Gendt has pointed out on Twitter - if you’re going to award bonus seconds at the KOM, then there’s going to be a sprint and therefore you need to barrier off the 1km approach.

The cameramen on the bikes knew there was going to be a race-defining shot when those 2 wound it up for the sprint, and ended up ruining it by trying to capture it

Said it before, I'd mandate a minimum focal length for the lenses used in motion.
That would make camera operators keep their distance for everyone's benefit.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Am I the only one that thinks that where and when Pog tends to attack is as much about where the motos are as anything else? He's very good at grabbing a bit of a draft from them, but it backfired here.

I'm not complaining about that as a tactic, it's just canny riding, though motos shouldn't be close enough to give the sort of assistance he's been getting

Pog attacked way to early with that big attack ....if he did that 2km to the top he would have held it

His attack that got blocked was badly timed as well. I think Vingegaard would have still got the bonus points

When Pogacar ‘drops’ Vingegaard it seems to be on Vingegaard’s terms. Sort of ‘ you have your fun, I’m not going into the red, I’ll catch you later’

Far from me to disagree with the great TdG but....did they?

Would any of us have honestly predicted that a 3s time gap could be "race defining" when ordering barriers back in January?

Yeah - Poor organisation!! And we all know nothing will change......they've learned nothing from Ventoux 2016. So the race jury threw the moto riders under the bus.....

The ASO are just cheapskates....Why not spend some of their money to put barriers 1km from the top, and put some police there?

Wonder how that stage would have played out had Yates not been there to set up Pogacar's attack?

Would Vingegaard have been the one to launch - after all they'd ridden all day - or would being burnt leading from the front already this race have meant they both played cat and mouse to the top ?

Was there even a bit of magic rope on that section?

What's the point of the bonuses if they didn't think they could make a difference?

Nah I think the crowds are part of the action.

We need fewer motos in races.

I get that means fewer photos etc but they affect the outcome and safety way too much

When there's a big crowd on the road isn't it almost a necessity to have a moto in front to clear a path?

Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.
