    £700,000 worth of watches.

I suppose he's not to worried about contract negotiations then....

    Why not?

Ronaldo just negotiated a £4m a week salary I'm sure he probably had watches worth well in excess of £700k.

Pretty shallow take on a once in a generation sportsman.

Complete aside, but what does a £400k watch do? Is it made from diamonds?

Thanks. This might be one of those things I will never understand. Looks like the sort of watch my kids would wear.

UAE are all wearing RM watches are they not? Pogacar def is and some others as well, but maybe not all.

Alaphilippe also wears one during races.

A lot more people think Ronaldo is a weapons-grade tw*t than they do Cavendish.

    at £4m a week I don't think Ronaldo cares.

A lot more people also worship Ronaldo than actually know who Cavendish is.

What is your point? That because he has a £700k watch that he doesn't care what he gets paid, or doesn't care if he doesn't get paid to race again?

There's a few with MBEs although Phil Taylor apparently had his annulled after an indecent assault conviction.

Biggest result of his career. He’d been a perennial under-achiever until then and should probably have swallowed his pride and retired.

On the BBC Twitter feed last night I noticed the comments criticising Cavendish for owning expensive watches. I shook my head at that being the focus of the story for them.

Don’t get it… if wealthy people spend their money it can only be a good thing, the bad thing is when they don’t spend it and stash it away…

But most importantly, should darts champions get honours? Ultimately, they are the pinnacle of a pyramid of "athletes" who spend their life in pubs...

Should greyhound trainers and champion breeders get honours? Should the head of Paddypower get an MBE?

    Where is the line drawn?

It seems the way to the honours list for cyclist is the Olympics. Rachel Atherton won just about every thing in Downhill MB and only got the Sundaytimes sportswomen of the year for all her effort
