Musky

Haha, Mr Genius getting played and tying himself in knots.

There's a suspicion that Musk is now putting blue ticks on some big accounts that wouldn't pay (NYT, Stephen King, etc), so that the people who are going for "block the blue" (i.e. blocking anyone who's payed for a blue) will be blocking the accounts that have been critical of Musk. It's really quite amusing.0
-
And now a pile of >1m follower Tweeters have had blue ticks reinstated, and Musk is demonstrating his genius like this:
0 -
All accounts with 1M plus followers now have a checkmark that says they have been verified and provided their phone numbers, even those who haven't, those who were not verified before, and people who are dead.
Again, the guy is an imbecile.0 -
He tried to force the greatest tweeter of all time to have a checkmark and lost for now.

And those who don't want the tick next to their name are changing their display name back and forth to get rid of the tick, even if only temporarily, as they see it as both seemingly endorsing Musk and therefore a bdge of dishonour.
There is an irony in Musk thinking he can outwit the millions of people who think he's a narcissistic teenage-mentality jerk.0 -

It's fascinating to watch, as the genius sticks by his management-by-trolling strategy.0 -
Well, given that account and tweet has disappeared, all I have been able to ascertain is that someone got a fake Disney Junior UK account gold verified and then posted something offensive.

It's definitely giving people on Twitter something to talk about.0

Random person with usual random person tweets changed their account name to DisneyJuniorUK and got given a checkmark that they were affiliated to Disney. They claim that it happened without asking.briantrumpet said:Well, given that account and tweet has disappeared, all I have been able to ascertain is that someone got a fake Disney Junior UK account gold verified and then posted something offensive.

Splendid. Musk is also claiming that dead people have paid up for the blue tick.

Now Musk is being trolled by the US guvmint:
The question wouldn't have arisen had Musk not decided to start choosing labels for various organisations. Now he has to decide who gets what label, and by that, he reveals his biases.0 -
Oops, someone's forgot to put the $1 in the electric meter at Twitter... it's logged me out and won't let me log back in. I'll probably get a ransom demand from the genius next...0
-
Time was when people went to Twitter when anything else was down, as it was pretty reliable. Unreliability will be its demise... you can, to an extent, filter out all the conspiracy theory batshit crazy stuff Musk has encouraged, but you can't filter out the system breaking.0

Musk is now at the stage of trying to defend wannabe Nazis, it seems... not a great look.

With no context at all apart from that tweet - those do not seem good ways to "know" it is someone's real account.- Genesis Croix de Fer

I've deployed a massive upgrade to Twitter. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/blue-blocker/jgpjphkbfjhlbajmmcoknjjppoamhpmm
Adds a block to any paid for blue check users - you can specify whether to exclude those with a certain number of followers etc. Works a treat and has massively improved my experience.
Reason is that twitter now boosts paid for users, so without this the first replies shown are always low quality.
You do need to use chrome on laptop a bit to get them swept up.
A recent downgrade is that the richest man in the world seems to have removed "translate tweet" completely to save a few quid.0 -
Thanks for the paid-for blue tick thing. Will try itkingstongraham said:I've deployed a massive upgrade to Twitter. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/blue-blocker/jgpjphkbfjhlbajmmcoknjjppoamhpmm

It's blocked thousands for me.0

Just installed, and it looks good. Previously I'd sometimes hand-blocked some of the MAGA blue-tick loons, but got bored.kingstongraham said:It's blocked thousands for me.
I like the way it tells you who's been blocked and offers immediately to unblock them. Very slick.0 -

Same, definite improvement, although I had to knock the minimum user number down to 1000 as it blocked some accounts I do like...and Carol Vorderman!
Cant find that setting... where is it?0 -

click on the extension icon thing (like a jigsaw piece in edge) and then on the "B", it's second from the bottom.
Aha, got it, thanks... I was clicking on the three dots on the right on the drop down list of extensions.0 -
Yeah, I set it to 20,000. Keeps out the really low grade replies.ddraver said:Same, definite improvement, although I had to knock the minimum user number down to 1000 as it blocked some accounts I do like...and Carol Vorderman!
