Hunger knock, Corona or lack of legs?!

Someone was saying on comms that he hadn't yet been properly tested at higher altitudes, could be as simple as that.
He's also being wastefully using energy like a Russian oligarch.
Not just today, but how many stages has he put in an all out sprint at the end for little no profit?
I caught the end of yesterday's stage and thought he was sprinting for the win and the bonifications.

They had the team and did the right moves mostly . Attacking on the flat like that when he was isolated was really good ...

The gap that Gaudu and Yates created shows just how much Pog was suffering. Did Thomas lose a place of GC despite gaining over a minute on Pog?

No, because of Kamna dropping out of second. He stays 4th.

Yeah, it's been a bit like that Giro where Yates seemed to do that in the early stages before blowing up. Still think it may be Covid though.

Have to say I'm not a fan of the teammates interrupting interviews that seems to have started being a 'thing' this year.

Ah yes, I forgot about Kamna's day out.

1st chance to watch the whole stage live, I got lucky!

I reckon that's the best live stage I've seen since Froomes Giro stage 18, probably even better as a whole spectacle, so much going on

Oh behave, I mean nothing compares to Froome excitement :D

Orla has just picked up on exactly this, during post stage chat.
Adam Blythe dismisses it............so it's probably correct.

They did also raise the altitude - he lost time to on Col de la Loze apparently? I don't really remember that. But the main other time he's been tested at proper altitude.

Much of Pog's dominance was psychological - most here bought it as well. Jonas didn't. But holding that psychological edge requires a lot of effort
Ventoux last year told him he was a genuine player. Today he just showed everyone else.

So I guess it might take him an extra year to get his 10 wins.

I don't see either of the Ineos riders going on the offensive, I see them both trying to avoid losses and hope the others have a day like Pog did today.

Yeah, I thinks that's where they are, but it's what they've got. Will be hard to isolate Vingegaard with the team he's got around him

An outstanding contribution from Orla today as well.

Presumably G won't as he's unlikely to be able to beat Vinegaard and JV even if Pogacar does crack again, especially when you'd imagine he'd be as well waiting for the TT to consolidate 2nd/3rd place?

Yes, will likely be forgotten about due to the result. But it prevented Pog having to work in the valley and gave him Majka to set pace on the climb which to me actually meant that we didn't see Pog look weak until late

Thanks for the reply. So a real waste of energy unless he was going forward to support Vingegaard.

Tomorrow looks brutal and Pog has told TV he plans to attack!

I don't think Vingegaard taking time today was a shock - 3 minutes yes definitely - but most discussions on here the majority were saying the race wasn't over. When I heard UAE had lost 2 with covid yesterday (turned out to be one) I actually said to my wife (convenient I know) I'd have Vingegaard as slight favourite just because Pog hadn't broken him and late attacks often mean a rider knows they can't attack earlier - and without a team that control you are in trouble.

OK so who is going to blow up most spectacularly on the Granon in this GC group?

    Well, well, well, well, well...

Anyway for lack of any cows or horses, have some local sculpture meets sprinkler system.
