'Cav is a breakaway specialist' - he's a Morkov specialist at best, lets move on

I didn't notice Morkov at the Nationals on Sunday, maybe he was in disguise
Yes - a race confined to Brits, this is not helping the case against :)
I take it you don't do jokes?
That's a bit harsh on Cav :D - he's just not my cup of tea

That Ineos team has 0 stage wins and 18th place written all over it. What caused their fall from grace? Does the new owner not care so much about the Tour? Very much a mid tier stage race team now.

    Their seven Grand Tour finishes since becoming Ineos are 1 13 2 1 3 4 2

In the last two seasons they have also won Suisse twice, Dauphine, Romandie, Catalunya and Basque Tour

    That's not mid tier

If they went for stage wins only, then Ganna, Martinez, Pidcock, Van Baarle and Yates all have good possibilities. In reality, they are probably there to support a no-hope attempt at 5th on GC from someone yet to be decided.

Only thing I can see is a tweet from a look a like FDJ Twitter account but on closer inspection is just trolling.
You are correct. But in two weeks' time I will be correct.

It would be quite the turn up for the books if a bunch of riders got covid and Pinot somehow won the tour.

    Covid is rife everywhere

Gutted for Cavendish. All those pulls this weekend and he still doesn't get Declerq's slot.

More seriously, I'm unsurprised by the decision and probably would have made it myself. By Friday though enough riders might have dropped that there'll be serious consideration for snapping up some of those kids that cycle alongside on the pavement, just to fill out the numbers - Cav might sneak in yet.

EF not announcing their pick until they get their COVID tests in.

I also note they’re doing a mens and womens Rapha / PALACE collaboration for this tour.

Must be a bit of worry at Jumbo-Visma, sport director Merjin Zeeman has tested positive.

What are the covid rules for riders & teams now?
    - assuming they are not very sick

No rules for teams with multiple cases any more.

For riders, "the decision to potentially isolate the case shall be taken collectively by the team doctor concerned, the Covid-19 doctor for the event and the UCI medical director."

Mandatory tests two days before the race and on rest days.

Thread on the new Covid rules. "frequent antigenic tests are strongly recommended for team members (except riders)" because riders can't get Covid, obvs :|

At this rate they should allow squad rider replacements during the Tour, problems already happening and stage 1 yet to start! :#

I guess he's got Bjerg and Laengen in case of any echelon/cobble related problems, but seems very climber focussed.

    And Trentin.
    Ha! I was just early.

Jungels positive, but hoping for a negative test tomorrow. GVA to replace him if he isn't cleared to ride.

So what's the minimum cut off time for Jakobs...someone to test positive then?

Well, at least they've got the team presentation out of the way.
They might need to do it again tomorrow, though. :p

Bahrain-Victorius hotel searched this morning by the Danish police, at the behest of the French authorities. Nothing found according to the team, but it's clear the French investigation think something is going on.
