  • Of course the one guy you don't have to mark and allow to ride away is WVA. :*

Strong chasing group working fairly well and his gap just went up and up. Joy for Rick Chaseys globally.
  • Seemed like a good race until WVA simply disappeared. Ridiculous rider.

It wasn’t a good edition at all. Very little that could be considered memorable.
It’s like each year, somebody flicks a weather switch in Belgium and we get two of the most contrasting Saturday’s I can remember.

So someone is head and shoulders above the rest of the peloton.

For the spectacle we should hope he’s peaking too soon

Main difference is Jumbo took the role of Quick Step.

They controlled the race, had strong riders covering every important move and had a rider who was in a different league to the rest of the peloton.

Old school move on the Bosberg.

All over the front, smashed it.

Thought Trentin looked great. Made it across to the Benoot, Pidcock WvA move which was no mean feat and had enough in the tank for the sprint for 2nd

Sneaky podium for GvA did not notice him the entire race

Victor Campenaerts needs some award for sheer determination. He seemed to be permanently having mechanicals but ended the day 5th.

Pidcock finished in 18th so no interest in the minor places. Need to remember that for PTP.
  • Rob Hatch turns up for KBK. Adam Blythe is co-pilot.
Live now with 9 men a couple of minutes up the road and there are 100 kms to go.

  • KBK has been a much better race than yesterday thus far.
A pity about the final 50kms of nothing much

Possibly time to dust off the klaxon?

    Nah.
It’s just a chase to bring the sprinters back for the inevitable.

What a finish, 3 man break caught in the final 100m and Jakobsen just holding off Ewan.

Jumbo were giving Quickstep a taste of their own medicine. Lampaert was immense
  • The bunch sure did make hard work of that.
Trying to save your lead out but in doing so let the breakaway win.

Exciting finish. Was only about 50 m to go and 2 of the break came in 8th & 10th.

With the form Nairo is in, they probably don't need to worry about that.

Rob Hatch did Omloop as well. Just not on GCN.

Yes, tomorrow it's time for the best little cobbled race of the year. Unfortunately, the weather once again refuses to play ball, but still, these (men and women) rarely fail to deliver. Both live from the usual sources.

    54th Le Samyn: Quaregnon › Dour (209km)

Although it is still classed as a 1.1 race, there are 11 WT teams on the startlist, so maybe not so little anymore.

Le Samyn is once again delivering an excellent race.
Non stop attacks and regrouping for the last 30kms and there is still 20 kms to go.

The break makes it all the way with 7 seconds to spare.
Trentin gets a little lucky as he just holds off Arkea’s Hugo Hofstetter.

Was a good watch. Good commentary too, I thought, from Been and Backstedt.

It's always good when you don't know which attack will be the one that sticks - little breaks from when the early break got caught with about two laps to go.
  • Le Samyn is always a good race, criminally underrated.

Agree on the praise for the commentary, both Been and Backstedt knowledgeable and concise.

Got to agree Le Samyn was good to watch. Hofstetter was so near. Nice garden sofas on the side of the podium that they made them sit on!

Good finish in the Le Samyn Des Dames too. Emma Norsgaard dominates the sprint as the 2-up breakaway was caught at 100m. She takes away a lime green garden gnome as a prize
