I'd be concerned about the durability of the rattle can paint job.

i wouldn't be as its covered in about 15 layers of 2Pak lacquer like they use at all the sprayers - car, motorbike, bicycle - in the world, so yet again, I refer you to your box section wheels comment.

also, if you use acrylic paint as opposed to celluolose like you would do its a far better longer lasting finish.

Edwyn has car polish on special discount BTW.

i popped down to see him.

he said he was sold out but had some duty free Bensons out the back so I got some of those instead.

the knack behind a mega finish like mine is warm the spraying room well beforehand, keep it warmed, prep everythiing spotless and gently heat whatever you are srpayibg fitst ' hot air gun is perfect.

this helps the first couple of coats stick so minimising runnage risk.

rub down coats with very very fine wet n dry so its smooth and silkly not like that Cannondale in the other thread.

oh it is, agree completely. Can't actually remember why they are on there.

think i may have taken the tubs off some 80s at some point and slung them on the 50s.

May change them. May not. If I did its not very difficult either.

    But yes, excessive, 100% agreed.
    Just chop them.

That crank-chainring combo looks a bit iffy.

    its not.

its fits perfect, works perfect and is as light as and better than anything you have.

i have the same set up on 3 other bikes and they all work perfect.

just because you don't understand how to set up somethibg or how something works doesn't mean its iffy. all you have to do us ask a question and we'll explain.

    Hand built onto carbon rims?

i do have the matching Dura Ace wheels in the loft - the C35 carbon rimmed climbing jobbies that cost a billion pounds and weigh nothing.

the rims are worn out but the hubs are perfect so maybe in due course.
They are luverly wheels. I have a pair and they are still going. I would need a second mortgage to buy new replacements.

'Bensons' ?! FFS - can't you butter up one of the sea going boys for a real Navy cut fag*?
Gitane's are another option. I mean, they sponsored a cycle team so they must make you go faster.

I've never had to take any car I've owned to a garage, so I must be doing something right. Fixed just about everything else I've ever owned too. Boats, cars, vans, trucks cherry pickers, machinery, white goods etc etc.

No, 'cos that's really difficult rocket science with black magic sprinkled in.
You know some people make their wheels straight with something called a 'spoke key'. How is that possible?

    Yeah ditto.
Only 1 caveat and that's that pesky service stamp.
Luckily, the local auto service centre allow me to do 90% of the service, they do some bits and pieces, some poking around and stamp the book.

Oh and never strip a Dyson/any other Hoover without a proper dust mask. I learnt that at my peril; gave myself exercise induced asthma and then coughed incessantly for every 86 miles of the Etape Caledonia.
It cleared up within 2 months thankfully.

Can you not get the camera shot to the right a bit to offset the bent stays?

Stick it in a vice and swing on it.

You've never had a car more than 3 years old and invalidated warranty, or never had an MOT? Or fixed as above?

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Yes, cars have been MOTed , not sure that means `taking it to the garage` (MOT station)
