    Tao's form?
I'd suggest that the 2020 Giro may be the outlier. He is still young though.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

A lot of people said it was an outlier at the time.

Remember TGH was out with concussion for a time earlier in the year

Having a dip after a major win like that isn't uncommon is it?

Is there any evidence its a dip? That giro had a very weak field. Other than kelderman at the tour, who from that race has had a result in a stage race this year?

Wiggins seems to think there is trouble at t'mill referencing Tao's form and Thomas feeling he's been knifed in the back in his post Olympic TT roundup.

Thomas didn't say "knifed in the back", he said "people sticking the knife in". There's a big difference in meaning between back-stabbing treachery and criticism.

And you don't think that might have negatively affected his form compared with not taking time out with concussion?

    no.

    that was ages ago.

if he had any long term effects from a head injury Ineos wouldn't have raced him full stop.

The harsh but honest problem is that Gee and TGT are both 3* GC riders and we have a bunch of 4* riders now (and a 22 year old 5*).

They re either going to have to take a sizeable pay cut and drop in status or find a new team (also with a paycut...)

That's not what I'm saying. He had to have a break from his training and racing schedule, just like with any other injury.

Yes I've heard his post race interview now. I thought Wiggins was a bit stronger in what he said Thomas had said.

the break was so minimal to have no effect at all.

he still would have been turbo training

if his performance figures had dipped due to it ineos would have pulled him

    the concussion had no effect

To be fair, Wiggins struggles to remember the names of riders he spent years alongside in the peloton. I don't find him very good as a pundit.

Inspired by a Philippa York article in cycling news about team Ineos...

"Arriving at the start in Brittany with four protected riders, the tactics seemed fluid at best and confusing at worst... Thomas was damaged, Porte had settled into the support role he had returned to do, Geoghegan Hart was looking more than a little shell-shocked with the level that exists at the Tour. Carapaz was left to take on Pogačar but was ultimately left behind as the Ecuadorian was out-climbed, out-sprinted, and comprehensively out-ridden against the clock.

That they never looked like winning a single stage is a damning conclusion that Jim Ratcliffe, the team owner, will have noted. He’ll be asking where his money went and wondering about the loss of momentum from a team known for planning ahead."

    Braislford with serious health problems
    Nicolas Portal r.i.p.
    Bernal with a dodgy back.
Geraint unable to stay on his bike.
    Carapaz out of puff
    Porte past it.

After a "disastrous" tour should the team disband?

So, let me get this straight. In your world, if you don't do something well or falter a bit you should quit? Great advise my friend. You'll go nowhere with a mindset like that.

That's actually a fair point Dennis. A bit of mental fortitude certainly didn't hinder Cav's spectacular return and consequential four stage TDF21 wins.

And it was a bit of a waste of time as the person you replied to hadn't posted for two years.
