Because it supports his own views on most subjects (sorry, I mean "provides balance and a voice to those who aren't represented by the Government controlled mainstream media").elbowloh said:
No, not at all. I introduced it because he had a history of sharing a platform with Farage and sharing some common views with him i.e. Brexit and anti-immigration.shortfall said:State of some of these replies Jesus!
I don't know what GB News editorial stance is in Brexit but Paul Embery is unashamedly left wing. I mentioned him in the first place because he welcomed the chance to speak on a supposedly right wing echo chamber about a range of subjects that affected his members and the wider trade union movement. Brexit isn't "right wing" or if it is somebody should have told ultra leftists like Tony Benn and Peter Shore amongst many other Labour Party grandees who were against our membership of the EU. I think if elobowh is honest he introduced Embery's sacking by the FBU to try and discredit him as reasonable person but the fact is that he was removed from office by a kangaroo court of the Stalinists who run that union. It had nothing to do with his credentials as a union official and everything to do with him not following the unions supposed policy on Brexit. I've just remembered why I stopped posting here. Back to the Caption Comp for me where at least there's some laughs to be had. Just
Paul Embery's first mention on here was to show that as he was on there, that GB news was trying to achieve balance. I posted that follow-up to demonstrate that this was false.
I'm not sure why you're so desperate for believe that GB news is anything other than a propaganda machine rather than a balanced media outlet.

According to the Times, Andrew Neale is on the verge of not returning to GB News after falling out with the owners of the channel on its direction, he thinks its airing too much opinion and not enough reporting of the news.
Well, who'd have thought?0 -
Surprised he's seemingly been out maneuvered in this way.0
-
Previously Andrew Neil said: “GB News will not slavishly follow the existing news agenda. We are not a rolling news channel nor will we be providing conventional news bulletins. But on all of our programmes and platforms you will always know what is going on and what the country is talking about.”
So I don't know why he's now moaning about it moving to a model that might get some viewers.
My few minutes that I saw this morning at someone else's house included an anchor asking "but I thought we were supposed to be a horribly racist country?" in a piece about EU nationals coming to the UK, so it feels like it's going great.0 -
Even if it didnt start that way (which it did) it was inevitable that it was going to go that way. It's the way all media outputs with obvious political biases go. Chasing viewers by going more and more extreme...
See...pretty much every political YouTube channel there is...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

"The point about challenging the consensus is slightly contradictory in the case of GB News. The channel sits on the right politically, which is also where our country sits – based on election results in the recent past and most likely in the medium-term future, and so isn’t GB News in fact the consensus? Aren’t the left-leaning journos and comedians that GB News is kicking against challenging the consensus so much that people are shouting out for more voices on TV that reinforce it?"0 -

By the way, this article appeared today also.
THIS IS THE NEWS!

I can't work out whether this is cock-up or conspiracy. Was it the financiers' plan to get Neil to give it some heft then get shot of him so they could get something with not even nominal balance, or is it just a shambles out of which the financiers hope to get what they might call a good result (Fox News wannabe).0
-
So the backers are not in it for financial gain (not that you were saying the opposite) but presumably the theory was getting some established news people would give legitimacy to the right wing project and the illusion of balance rather than just going out and out populist.briantrumpet said:I can't work out whether this is censored -up or conspiracy. Seems there isn’t much appetite to watch them but there is for Farage et al, so why not back him and those guys instead?0 -
Chris Biggins' views on Brexit have been silenced by the lamestream media for too long.
Glad GB News has stood up to woke cancel culture and given him a platform to drop truth bombs

Or rather, he has “had time to reflect on [his] extensive portfolio of interests”, which reads like the sort of preposterously self-regarding nonspeak the channel keeps telling you it’s against. I believe this is metro elite for: “Face it, this bed’s been shat, and I need to get out of it.”1 -

What's so special about left wing excess on Mondays and Wednesdays that it needs a show?kingstongraham said:

Clearly not.rick_chasey said:Do people understand woke means "aware of social injustices?"
Or they just need a strawman to attack.
It's like in the US where if you espouse any kind or leaning left view, the rabid right will label you communist or marxist.0 -
