SKX is also on a tropic strap now fellow skinny wrister 😃 in case I need to Battle Dr. No in the Caribbean. Original
Strap was very uncomfortable.
Was having a look to sell it recently and it seems they’re going up in price as Seiko stopped making them.

Great taste! The SKX has a nice vintage esque feel too it and if you're into early Subs the 58 is hard to beat (unless you are totally minted!). I got mine on the nato as it's all they had in stock this time last year but the wife gifted me a Strapcode steel bracelet for it at Christmas, definately gives it a bit more weight.seanoconn said:

Same, the Oris does it for me. Though if I get a GMT I'd like it on a bright rubber strap as a holiday/weekend/travelling watch. The black and orange Planet Ocean GMT on a blue rubber or something. I have enough dour tasteful watches for now!seanoconn said:
Nice. Prefer the oris of the two. Not keen on the modern seamasters, even the James Bond sexiness element doesn’t do it for me. As for GMT’s, the complexities of time travel fuddle my brain. I need V68 to sit me down and talk me through it.Stevo_666 said:

No winder needed for my current daily, partly because it's a daily but also because it's got a 70hr reserve
Or this?
PO GMT is nice if you want to splash the cash but there's nout wrong with dour watches. What else have you got if you don't mind me asking?
Don't mind at all, I have a Black Bay 58 on steel, an original 60s Oris 65 (a bit worse for wear, now also on steel), a speedmaster 3511.50, an SKX013 and a hipster gold casio worldtimer.
I was going to buy the reissue Oris 65 for the wedding but when it was postponed I found the original beaten up one on ebay just for fun. Then my wife decided to get me the 58 as a wedding present which she gave me on the original wedding date, and I subsequently wore it for the wedding in October.
The speedy was a present to myself in September because it looks awesome and I was I had an ultimate yuppie reason to celebrate at the time
I've had the SKX for ages, currently looking good on a tropic strap for when I'm out on site and things.
I'd be interested to hear more about your collection but the entire BB might be bored to tears after this post!

At the time there was a rush to find a 58 before the wedding (as it was a gift from my OH) so we took what was in stock with no waiting list. Didn't need to rush in the end!seanoconn said:

My phone tells me the time. Or the clock on the wall. Or the Google mesh things if i ask them. Or my laptop. Or the TV. A wristwatch is just an expensive bracelet for men now, that only other men with a similar interest in such bracelets will notice. Or a fitness tracker.
But we all have different interests and likes and foibles. Which is marvellous.
But the wristwatch has lost its functional purpose and become a symbol of wealth, discernment, or in the case of a retro casio digital thing, fashion.

Haven't worn a watch in 15+ years. Don't need that sort of tan line. Don't get the lurve for them, bit like Hoppy said. Got some somewhere. Got my grandad's silver pocket watch, somewhere. Got shite like fake Dubai Rolex. eBay? If can be arrised.0

I just wear a fairly near the bottom of the range Garmin Forerunner 35.
I used to have a nice Longine that I bought with Xmas and birthday money, but it disappeared from home somehow.0 -
I prefer on of these

I like a nice watch but don't have anything particularly special. The old man had a lovely Jaeger Lecoultre alarm watch from the early 70s, unfortunately it disappeared around the time he died, we suspect one of the carers swiped it but will never know.

Somewhere in a box I’ve an Omega Seamaster Polaris, and a much older 120 Calypso. Both quartz movements so not especially collectible I think. Bunch of other generic things collected over the years. Just wear an Apple Watch these days if any. 🙄Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0

Talking of time zine changes, does anyone else think its weird/unfair that Britain has 24 hours in a day but Europe only has 23 and 22 (depending where you are, obvs) per day?

I'm slightly ashamed to say I very rarely look at my watch for the time, it's obviously a fashion type thing for me. I like how they look and the way they are made in the same way that I like a nice car despite the fact there are any number of cheaper ones which would do the same job.hopkinb said:My phone tells me the time. Also, I've seen a few nice things from Breitling recently, I'm a fan of slightly simpler vintage inspired watches. The new Top Time is cool, quite pointless agaisnt the speedy though (accepting that they are all pointless)0
