"My" blue one wasn't the Art Deco version you have though.
Edit - This is my frame when on show from Google. I prefer my build.

How about a big Flexi pole with a little triangle flag on top like kids bikes in the 70s (well they appeared to have them in US films)pblakeney said:

Mine:
Didn't get the Art Deco paint job restored. Neill at Atlantic boulevard just wasn't prepared to do it. Plus, it would have been iro ยฃ1200 on top of the repairs.
Rode it today. So supple but responsive.seanoconn - gruagach craic!2 -
Unpopular opinion maybe, but I really don't like the art deco paint jobs anyway. Your red colour is much nicer.0
-
I dubbed it 'the Saronni C40'. It's 'Saronni red'. Closest match is the Aygo cherry red. Looks so much better in the flesh, it's stunning.
My part time cyclist mate said 'I couldn't ride that, i'd have to just stick it on the wall'.
I wanted the art deco because it preserved the frame in some way in original colours. There's not many C40's out there anymore and it's legendary.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Your suggestions are welcome, if ridiculous, but until it is pointed out that someone has the same build with 2015 Athena and Royce hubs I will be content.elbowloh said:

If I ever need a car resprayed I want it to be pearlescent cherry red ever since seeing a MK1 Escort in that colour in late '70s Custom Cars. It must be your age. That colour scheme is associated with Museeuw and co. and the period of time when everything seem to be won on a C40. There were lots of Art Deco colour combinations.elbowloh said:seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

The Colnago art decor was dreadful. What you have now is awesome.
I had an MGBGT once. In a gorgeous dark blue. And someone had put leather seats and some nice carpeting in it.
British Leyland didn't do this colour, or anything that wasn't black or sick coloured vinyl, because that would have been nice.
So all the Dereks out there with AA Motor club badges on the grille would have hated it, because it was better.
An art decor C40 is one for the Dereks. Whereas Pinno's C40 makes people dribble.1 -

I really dislike MG's but the one colour that really flatters it is British Racing green.
It's always struck me as the poor man's E type (and yes, few can afford one). I only wish they had given it some more oomph and a much more rigid chassis.
Oh, and dispensed with that silly electric overdrive.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
What about an art decor masters...... asking for a friend0

'Tis the thread to digress. I love the Mexico in white with the blue stripe. Group 4 arches, roll cage and a string of Raydyot fireballs in chrome.pblakeney said:

Gutless too. 0-60 in about 11 seconds. Too much energy went to the exhaust noise. But 100mph was entertaining.
It had a roof, so wasn't a noodle like the soft tops. Since it was light it had better turn in and handling that anything else I've owned, despite leaf.springs at the back. But it was water soluble, unfortunately.
BMW these days. Nice and quiet.0 -
MGBs are utter dogs, hateful loathsome things even the sound of them makes me shudder. Pay the mortgage though.
Mallard green was better than BRG, still shite mind.0 -
Looking at tatty C40's for sale now and they're eye watering. More eyewatering, was getting a NOS headset for my frame - over ยฃ110! and even then, I had to mix and match older parts of it - as @pblakeney now knows.Harry182 said:Someone local recently had this for sale:

They were pretty cars and the driving position was great. But yeah, engineered by a man with a hangover, a crayon and a small budget.veronese68 said:MGBs are utter dogs, hateful loathsome things even the sound of them makes me shudder. Pay the mortgage though.

I would have been surprised to say the least had I found the car in question, but from memory the car was the colour of the one below, with chrome finishing.pinno said:

Thursday is the new Friday so had a blowout last night with several full strength martinis. Calm tonight, long(-ish) pedal tomorrow.

The art deco colour is the equivalent of the people who in their 60's buy a scooter, put loads of chrome mirrors on it, buy a Parker and ride down to Brighton.0 -
Last gig before covid was the Who playing in Kingston. There were loads of old men in parkas loitering outside with their blinged scooters. Some of them should have been on mobility scooters.
Shortly after the doors opened and we were shuffling in they all ride off. They didn't even have tickets ๐
Quite like the art deco though.0 -
