Tom Pidcock just stepped up level to win his first Super Prestige cyclocross putting 25 seconds in to Mathew van der Poel.

    Quite the scalp

A few people on here need to take their road tinted glasses off, and realise the's a cycling world out there besides road racing. Some of the world's best cyclists never go near a road race.

  • How do you know they're the world's best? Best at what? JRA?

Despite there now being several cross thread posted here, it's generally accepted that this is the road racing section of the forum, though.

Is Wout wearing a Wout Cap? 🤢

Can i change my vote to Roglic please?

It looks like it. It says WVA Panache. This will gain MVDP fans.

I think MVP versus WvA is like Arsenal versus Chelsea or Man Utd versus Man City. You never change and there is Dutch/ Belgium bit as well.

And if you're neutral, what a spectacle they provide.
I know they have their differences but in this years Flanders. they didn't let their differences get in the way of working together in very professional manner before the final sprint.

  • As a neutral I have to say I found it a bit disappointing.

The breakaway was complete so the fireworks had been and gone.

After alaphilippe crashed out I really didn't care who of the two won which meant the run in to the end and sprint was a bit of a damp squib

    perspectives - all different.

    I loved every minute.

  • I wish I had a preferred rider of the two so I could really get into the rivalry and enjoy it more. Maybe it'll come with time, but I have little to go on as I don't follow CX

it is challenging to find any race interesting when you have no interest in who wins...

Due to the hype surrounding both on the road, I have become a Mads Pedersen fan. It helps I was at the Worlds he won.

Ditto - really wanted Trentin to take that but Mads was a beast that day.

Prefer MvDP purely for his racing style / tactics (!).

A nap, mid ride. Helps recharge the batteries.

Dunno if you lot have ever seen this, but this is the DK commentary team when Mads won. Rolf Sørensen is particularly amusing. As Mads commented afterwards "if you just play the audio it sounds like it's a porn flick"

Danish, obviously, but doesn't really need subtitles.

I prefer MvdP- he just looks fantastic on the bike, is willing to be attacking, and finally rides a great bike!
It's brilliant though to have him, WvA, JA and others such as Pedersen and Hirschi battling it out against each other.

It was a spectacular bonk. Really felt for him that it happened a mile or two after the pits rather than before!

Saw him rolling back to his bus after the finish - looked completely ruined and white as a sheet. Not surprising.

An interesting perspective from Phil Gil, who knows a thing or two about being head & shoulders above the rest.

....and likely a perspective into his own mindset.
