  • The full casualty list from yesterday:

William Bonnet (Groupama-FDJ) - Pain in right shoulder and left side
John Degenkolb (Lotto Soudal) - Knee injury
David De la Cruz (UAE Emirates) - Fracture in sacrum
David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ) - Sacrum complaints
Ryan Gibbons (NTT Pro Cycling) ) - Crash on rib that is already broken
Philippe Gilbert (Lotto Soudal) - Broken kneecap
André Greipel (Israel Start-Up Nation) - Four stitches in his leg
Ben Hermans (Israel Start-Up Nation) - Damage to the wrist joint and serious abrasions
Miguel Ángel López (Astana) - Abrasions, minor complaints
Rudy Molard (Groupama-FDJ) - Knee injury
Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) - Knee complaints and right shoulder pain
Wout Poels (Bahrain McLaren) - Fracture in rib and bruised lung
Nils Politt (Israel Start-Up Nation) - Back pain
Domenico Pozzovivo (NTT Pro Cycling) - Fracture in elbow
Pavel Sivakov (INEOS Grenadiers) - Knee Injury and Hip Injury
Rafael Valls (Bahrain McLaren) - Broken thigh and right shoulder pain

The difference in length between that list and the actual list of withdrawals (Gilbert and Valls - Degenkolb would have carried on if he hadn't been hors delai) is absolutely ridiculous.
  • Tejay van Ladygarden holding the whole bloody race up. Doesn't feel like the first time he's done that, somehow.

Pinot about to lose his main support....

.........not that Ned Boulting has a clue that Gaudu was badly banged up yesterday.

I didn't know Gaudu had been hurt til this morning, but too late to replace in my fantasy team. Looks to be in serious pain. Madiot should pull him out.

Trentin grabs the intermediate in front of Sagan, then needs a wheel change. Think that could kill the break

    Sagan not looking like Sagan.

I once wrote a beautiful geology post about these gorges....

  • Not impressed with Sagan and LP sitting on the back of the break, having had the sprint competition points.

Ah ok, Ned & Dave didn't pick up on that...

Maybe time for some podcasts for an hour. Unfortunately I can't mute either ITV or GCN apps to have it on in the background...

The peloton sat up after the intermediate sprint, so he got back on. Think somebody needed a piss-break.

DS just pointedly observed that every time he dropped back a doctor was going to poke him exactly where it hurt most...
  • It’s nice to see the Celeste XR4s right at the sharp end again. They’re on a proper climb now, so we’ll see them in their element.

The GC guys need to start something this race could get called off early

Tommy D in the press last week saying their tactics will be based on it being a 3 weeker. (“If it’s not 3 weeks it’s not the Tour anyway”)
Yeah but he isn't everyone .

UAE trying to keep the break on a short leash for Kristoff in the yellow.
But if I were Jumbo-Visma I'd be considering twisting the knife in Pinot and Gaudu's injuries from yesterday. I know they took some knocks as well, but the FDJ riders looked worse.

That's missed one of the main ones:

Lopez and the rest of the Astana team - severely damaged egos.

Nah nah. Ah it's ok, according to an interview, "we were only riding on the front for safety. Not to attack"

Bought a Kenwood mixer once. Bloody funny shape and doesn't take standard audio connections. Waste of time.

Bought a Technics mixer once. Totally useless. Worst hummus I ever tasted.

There's a lot of hyperbole about Sagan but man he is a stylish descender...

It is interesting watching Lotto Jumbo line out on the front and think how completely they have taken over from Sky/Ineos as the Boss Team this year.

Luke Rowe with a classy hand-swing for an Israel rider behind him. He was dropping back to the team car and left a gap, so helped the guy close it.
