I can see counter attacks on the first climb

    Greipel is.

They're discussing the best snacks to grab in motorway service station Febo on Eurosport NL before things kick-off. I now feel as if the Tour has really begun.

    Krokets and Frikendal obviously!

This was pretty much the consensus.

    Greipel is.

Sliding room or picking up points? He must already be absolutely miles behind in the standings

The break now have too much of a lead for that to work.

    Deep joy.
Hatch informs viewers that Kirby will be doing the pointy end of the race.
Tough cheese those stuck with Mr Giggles.

Fair play for the content warning though.

Spots of rain on the camera lenses at the moment. Roads don't look wet though.

There's definitely something of the D1ck Dastardly about moto-Contador

Wanty Impressed with Meurisse - who hopefully will help Martin later

Berhane there for Herrada and Edet going well ( I miss Navarro)

Arkea - Barguil - your guess is as good as mine

Total - Calmejane hopefully has the legs today

So are the rest of the team though

End could be fun, steep gravel section potentially in the wet.

surely has to be an EF day then, isn't this what they've been training for with their 'alternative race programme'?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the first time we've actually seen one of the Riders of the Lost Arkea?

Can't wait. Working hard this morning then decant to the living room for zero work. Annoyingly have a call 2.30-3.30

hard work out the window. Now watching cricket.

Adam Yates backing himself firmly for the stage, saying he knows the area well.
Yeah I've absolutely screwed this up - should have WFH today not tomorrow.

Still got the tour on my phone and set up a 3rd monitor for the cricket.

Boss couldn't make it in because his car broke down. So that is something.

Greipel going up the road for green points and not even winning the sprint against two non-sprinters. Major fail
  • Meurisse for the KOM of course

Going to be a slow day at the office, with the break anchored by Greipel, Politt etc and the DQS driven peloton anchored by Viviani.

Edet out the back just now, talking to the doctor's car. Didn't look very chipper to me.

This is clearly Valverde after his 7 kg weight loss, as clearly stated in my post regarding Ineos on lightweight Meilenstein Obermayers:

I heard Valverde dropped so much weight, it's the equivalent of a smallish dog. Now if that dog happens to hit the lightweight wheel... devious plan by that Spanish Dastardly and Muttley. The cycling public certainly won't show any Piti for Ineos.

Video referenced since most of you old gits probably don't remember

Newsflash; I'm at the airport and earwigging Spanish tourists. I don't speak Spanish but I'm fairly sure they're saying they think Valverde is now down to the weight of a feral kitten.

OK I'm off to my meeting. I'm expecting Valverde to have shipped another few kilos when I return.

Lovely little wet/dry patches on the descent, no one in the bunch will be looking at getting down there in a hurry

I mean... if there was something dodgy at the dinner table last night and he does a Dumoulin I guess it's possible.

Thought Bora might have gone hard early to try to eliminate some pure sprinters.
