The start is going to be savage. Quickstep are going to get seriously worked over by breakaway specialists that haven't dropped serious time yet.

Maybe there *is* a chance that Alaphilippe gets in the break, just because that's the only way to mark them. Not sure anyone would ride with him though.

Wouldn't that mean the likes of Ineos wanting to keep the break within reasonable range?
In which case you would have Bora, Sunweb etc taking over later on, killing off the break, hunting the stage win.
I think DQS will be happy to allow a fairly sizeable break go as early as possible and keep things tranquillo behind.

If by chance, Alaphillipe does try for the break, then it's a sure sign he doesn't fancy his chances of survival up the daughters in law. :P

I reckon DQS will have Morkov earmarked to try and get in any early move. Agreed that they will have their work cut out keeping strong breakaway group under control on their own. Maybe they can persuade others without skin in the game to help....
  • Wanty who got the short straw??

Guilliame Martin riding well - 20th yesterday shows his conviction to keep out of trouble

I concur. The caveat is alaphillpe clipping off late in the stage mugging the peloton. If he has it. No one not even him knows?

I'm not convinced on that front, he doesn't climb so well, I'd expect to see him in the autobus with Viviani as soon as it forms

Happy memories of this part of France - was on the road side 10 years ago in the rain when Haussler had his epic raid, pretty much lost it when I saw Armstrong's Livestrong helmet in the bunch as they flashed past!

Going to be one of those days where the break takes an age to get away.
    What's up with Bernal?
Don't usually see SDB's top boys hanging around right at the back...

Finally, we get a peloton lockdown.
TdG does all the work, Tim Wellens gets all the benefit and makes the breakaway selection.

Liking how the polka jersey suits the Lotto Soudal colour scheme.
    Trivial I know.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.
