Many of the nutters were never *meant* to be elected

I feel like a lot of the prominent nutty Tories are in safe seats. Kemi Badenoch and Suella Braverman are in pretty secure seats.
Obviously the Lee Anderson intake are more a flash in the pan.

I think Nutter Truss is also in a safe seat, though it'll be interesting how her US dalliance with Bannon et al will affect her support there, though it is Norfolk, so who knows?

Not a bad guide to how long it will take for the Conservatives to return to being a normal party. A year or so of arguing that really they won the argument even if they lost the election. A bout of entryism from some loons and eventual recovery. Or they might follow the Lib Dems and crash for 3 or 4 elections. Who knows?

Well, I'll shortly be heading into work in London's no-go area. Wish me luck.

Haha. When even Nick Ferrari gets annoyed with a Tory being able to answer a simple question... and the obvious question, once the soundbite "It was wrong" has been pushed hard.

He's clearly been instructed to simply repeat his lines. Wife was watching him on ITV, sounds like it was exactly the same.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
What's baffling is why they didn't foresee interviewers asking why it was wrong, or if they did foresee that, how stupid it sounds not to be able to explain why it was wrong.

Must be a bit demoralising to be sent out to act like an idiot to cover for your colleague's stupid and inaccurate comments. A colleague so stupid that even a party headed by Richard Tice is unsure whether they want him.

I don't understand the supposed distinction Badenoch is trying to make, where both terms refer to a faith. It is a piss poor attempt at virtue signalling.

Good luck, assuming you get back in one piece can you mark yourself 'safe from....' on Facebook?

Semantics are important, in the current climate the worst thing you can be is anti-semantic.

There's a slightly more thoughtful argument on why the definition is problematic here.
I can't help feeling that the discussion of the obviously bigoted and factually incorrect views of Anderson has got sidetracked into arguing about definitions largely to avoid the Conservative party having to admit to the obvious. See also the excruciating robotic interviews.

He does do stuff besides a podcast. I'm not sure I agree with Holland's point. I think the kind of people who issue death threats are not to bothered about precise definitions of what is bigotry and what is valid criticism or commentary. But easy for me to say having not received such threats.

Obviously a bit more on the nose in Holland where people have been murdered for saying things that extremist Muslims didn't agree with (including a director and a politician).
I think it's sensible to say that criticism of Islam or muslims is not automatically islamphobic, *even if* parts of the islamic community are offended by it, and I think it is also fair to say that we have evidence to suggest there is also a cultural problem in parts of those communities around threats of violence to those who dare to voice their opinion on it.
That can be true alongside the fact that the vast majority of muslims aren't interested in any of that stuff and there is also a lot of islamophobia about.

Do you have a map of the no go areas? I have already walked 3 miles around SE1 this morning without realising the terrible danger I was in!

You're in ULEZ? You're doomed.

David Amess was murdered here by an Islamic state sympathiser, although obviously we have our own homegrown nationalist killers too.

More ECHR troubles/opportunities for the Tories

Do they still prosecute former members of the IRA for historic crimes?

Not if the Legacy Bill stays they don't

Why does the commentary on it come across as it being a bit one sided then? Although I haven't been paying much attention.

Because the Tory Party and their supporters have successfully portrayed it that way. The Irish attacking 'our boys'.

I meant the opposition to the bill.

The opposition to the Bill unites every party and victims group in NI.
