Quite possibly the only truthful statement you have ever made on the internet...0 -

Finished on 520km yesterday after a 200km audax which took me up Cheddar Gorge. Will try for a video tomorrow; today very tired at work.0

The truth can often be hilarious. It certainly is in your case...0 -

Even I couldn’t shoulder an actual ton.
A ton of bullshit, perhaps. You've often coped with far more that that, tbf...0 -

Social rides at social pace. I’m not going for chopper records here. If I need to, I’ll go a whole lot quicker, however, I’m not that needy / desperate.0 -
Can you all stop this childish nonsense?
This was a thread about the Festive 500 for those who took part, not about whether or not the above poster is real... frankly nobody cares whether he's real or not.left the forum March 20230 -
Enjoyed it this year in the warmer than normal temperatures. Two centuries and a bit of riding around locally got me there. I do love a woven badge.0

Got mine done so I took NYE off. 539km in total with one 100m ride. Great weather and really enjoyed it this year.
Well done all2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner0 -
Thought I wasn't going to make it cos I had to work through Christmas, but manages to take advantage of the decent(ish) weather over the weekend and get almost 300km in to finish on 610km with a day to spareFat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

First time taking part in the Festive 500, and oh yeah, such favourable weather this year; thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It was great to bundle it into a holiday away from home as well; so did lots of sight seeing and climbed some pretty gruelling climbs - especially in Cornwall!

516km done in time and with a mild chest infection. nothing special except I did around 1/2 of it solo. that was a little silly really. still, kept the legs turning and witnessed some spectacular sights so I guess that's ok.0

Well done to anyone who managed 500 km over the festive period! I'm guessing my 3 rides might have totalled 100 km before youngest son arrived and gave me his stinking cold.
On the plus side, I now have an impressively large weight gain to tackle, and with a much smaller DIY schedule for 2019, a lot more cycling planned0 -

agreed, I dont think I expected to complete it at my first real attempt at it, always previously been away with family at Christmas minus a bike so never had a chance to go for it, but I expected to get a lot further along than my 121km into it before I packed it in, though I picked up the inevitable chest infection cold which didnt help and my knee was niggling abit, but it was my motivation, it just dropped through the floor post Christmas day, and the thought of spending hours out alone on a bike in the cold damp perma grey miserable weather, just was not doing it for me, plus I was already bored of my local ride loops from my pre festive 500 rides, so it was like a double whammy of dont really know where to go, or why Im doing it anymore
still I learnt more about it all than if Id not tried0 -
did all the 500 km on my own.
24 and 25 were cold, Christmas day was particularly miserable.
26 was milder, but I felt awful all day, nonetheless, I managed to pedal 100 dull km.
Things got better from the 27th... 29 and 30 really mild, I even dropped my winter jacket. By then my legs were quite tired though.
Probably not a good idea to do 100 km on the 22nd, just two days before "la depart", but it was a nice day and couldn't resist.
Anyway, blessed with good weather it turned out a pretty straightforward task.
I followed a bit those who did the Full Fat Festive 500 Audax... hero of course Steve Abraham, who completed 2 laps of it, to get back home with over a thousand km in his legs in 75 hoursleft the forum March 20230 -
Back at work and comparing festive experiences it seems that once again respiratory viruses were the must-have present.
As soon as the dog snuffs it we'll be spending our christmases somewhere warm and free from germ-laden relatives. But with my bike, so then I might stand a chance of clocking up 500km...0 -

Wow did he now... that's freaking amazing!? I did consider the Full Fat Festive 500 initially, but considering it's December I choose to go away on holiday instead to the mildest place imaginable (in the UK)... the South West! Given the balmy weather I probably could have managed it! Hindsight a wonderful thing0 -
Does it make a difference whether its done solo or in a group? I guess the Raphalites would say that it's not 'proper' unless you do it all on your own...
I did all but 50 km of it on my todd anyway (Christmas day flat pootle with the GF being the exception). Riding with other people in winter is overrated...Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

I did 4 proper rides around 100km each and only one of them was with other people.
TBH I found it helped as they ride slower than me so I dialled things back and rode at their speed. It meant that the following day I was fresh and ready to do another 100km at my own pace.
Also they were a bunch of audax nerds so always good to pick their brains regarding tips for endurance riding!0 -

Yeah, haven't managed to master that one yet... I normally kill myself to get to the halfway point/overnight stop among the first... the bonus is choice of a place to sleep etc...
That means that on day 2 I am anything but fresh.
At the Bryan Chapman I did 380 km on day 1 at 27 km/h... day 2 did 220 km at 20...left the forum March 20230 -

You haven't mastered that one because you've only ridden one 600. Carry on beingthe Audax expert though.  :roll:0 -

Yes, done the same on the 400s and 300s I have done though, so I am not likely to learn...
Sure, you are the real deal of long distance cycling, problem is you are also an axxehole, so I am unlikely to take advice from you any time soonleft the forum March 20230 -
You should do an Audax with me Ugo on the condition you ride with me on the first day...that way you'll be starting off at a very modest pace and on the second day you can zoom off into the distance ;-)WyndyMilla Massive Attack | Rourke 953 | Condor Italia 531 Pro | Boardman CX Pro | DT Swiss RR440 Tubeless Wheels

It's not that I haven't tried to involve you...
That door is always open... how about we do this 300 together, I am already signed up... Travelodge in Thirsk booked too

If seeing through your bullsh1t makes me an axxsehole it's fine by me. Funnily enough whenever your name has popped up on Audaxes eyes really do roll. :roll:0 -
