I see the BBC have now discovered the Tour de France has been on. Suddenly they're getting all excited about it.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

In fairness, it’s probably taken them a while to find someone who says Thomas didn’t win the Tour, in the pursuit of “balance”.
That way viewers can make up their own mind and they can then report the debate and claim they’re doing a great service to the whole public.
It’s all OK, if both sides are p!ssdd off, it means they’re doing a good job, right?0 -

I reckon that sums them up pretty well Rick.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

I reckon Froome would have won if he hadn't slowed down for the Pyrenees0 -

(A cent for TommyD's too...If they'd had a TT early in the race, Tommy puts 30 secs into G because G is riding in support of Froome...)
I suspect Froome knows he didn’t have the form and is probably ultimately happy that his mate was able to keep the title within the team. I reckon he was probably pushing to retain it until Wednesday then knew it was over.
Dumoulin is a tricky one. No doubt he’ll be happy knowing he has beaten Froome but frustrated that he still missed the top step but again, if he’s being honest, will accept it as a fair reflection. Probably wishing he’d missed the Giro though.
Does this mean the idea of doing the Giro-Tour double is back on? 1st and 2nd in the Giro come 2nd and 3rd at the Tour.
I thought Quintana had killed that idea last year but it turns out he just isn't that good0 -

he is Irish.
It all comes down to whether you think is Ireland part of the British Isles
It is part of the British Isles. That is a fact!!
Er.......wars have been fought over that. The north might be but the certainly south isn’t !
I think you are confusing political and physical geography.
As a political geographer I'd just like to point out that physical geography is also political geography. There are some islands that exist in what we generally call north west Europe, who decided to name them the British Isles is entirely political, who can actually say they are positioned in north west Europe is also entirely political. Anyway as you were...
How did you manage to square off the fact that today's stage took place entirely within France, but also entirely not in France, depending on who you ask0 -

Sorry, but that's rubbish. The race Cooke won wasn't the Tour de France, it was a minor French race that appropriated the name.
Sadly there is only one women's GT equivalent, and that's the Giro Rosa.0 -

What a day, nay afternoon, to be stuck in a Welsh wedding. All eyes on phones, not the bride!
Looks like Rich hasn't made it back from his, yet.
Anyhow, I remember speaking to Emma Pooley at the UK champs in Abergavenny, back in 2009.
It was the week after she had won the Women's TDF, or Grande Boucle Féminine Internationale as it was known.
She basically called it a sh*t small race.....which it was: a 2.2."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Interesting (in my world) story that Thomas wore one of last years Le Coq skinsuits because it's faster than this years. They had to put current logos on it and Castelli modified it, including sewing on the number and sewing up the radio pouch.0
