He's powering across to the break while fellow sprinters are getting shelled in the first 10km.
I love watching the break go, I used to think these big ones were just the bunch saying whoever wants to go is allowed and then they ride off. But actually, trying to compare the efforts to what some of us will be familiar with, it's actually like riding a hard crit (40 mins) then a chainy for a couple of hours then a road race0 -
COWS!!!!!Correlation is not causation.0

Just went into the bar on a French campsite with a fairly even split of Brits, French and Dutch and it’s showing Formula 1 and the golf. Probably sums up the way cycling is going in France. By contrast a friend was in a pub in Tenby yesterday that had the Tour on the big screen. How things have changed in 10 years!0

Not surprised a bar in Tenby was showing the Tour. Quite apart from the Geraint Thomas situation, I've been visiting Pembrokeshire for well over thirty years (since a toddler) and the number of cyclists has sky-rocketed in the last five years. Loads of groups out when I was down there last month.
They're particularly noticeable whimpering their way up the hill at Newgale...0 -
Dan?
What?“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Dan Martin has attacked from the group of favourites right at the bottom of the climb..0

He's simply irrepressible.0

Idiot fan trying to get a photo almost knocks Majka off, then for an encore nearly gets run over by the following moto.0

This top part of the climb looks like it could be in the Peaks or Scotland0

Magnus Cort is putting in a hell of a ride0

Why is one of the sky team (4th or 5th one back, in front of Thomas) wearing a slightly different jersey?0

it is noticeable though there are definitely more pubs even in areas without strong cycling presence, willing to show the TdF than 10 years ago, when most pubs just showed football/rugby and boxing0

I can't help but think that while what Dan is going is courageous, it's not exactly energy well spent."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0

Brittany, Les Ormes just outside Dol-de-Bretagne. It’s a great site, we came a few years ago too. It was a bargain as well £650 for 3 people including the ferry in their pre-assembled tents although there are pitches for your own as well. For the second year running I’ve done my holiday in France a week after the Tour has been through the area (they went up a climb within 1k of our site last year a week before we got there!). If G is still in yellow next week I’m thinking of jumping on a train from Rennes to Paris though. Again, annoyingly, we are off to Disneyland next Tuesday. If we’d been going there on the Monday we could have just booked the hotel for an extra night. I ought to think these things through more.0 -

The top of this climb is really eerie with the scrubby trees and then grass.Correlation is not causation.0
