This is one the most incredible descents to look at and to ride...

I hit 91kph down there....

Were you off your bike and falling down the side of the mountain at the time?

    That was just after

Reminds me, how is Kruiswijk at long Alpine descents?

I’m not sure he will be. He seems strong.

Should have about 4 minutes by the start of the climb. Maybe Sky won't want to catch him too early to prevent counters. Maybe in the last 6?

That's a very restrained crowd on the foot of the climb.

Not so sure. Thomas virtually sprinted the last couple of KM yesterday.... I hope he does, though.

Anyone know why Lotto Jumbo are using the Bianchi Oltre "aero bike" rather than the "climbers" Specialissima ?

Quite like G's colourscheme on his bike today. Much better than the garish all yellow jobbie
They don't make his glasses in yellow anymore.

4 mins would be a lot for a decent ride to lose although Betfair has it as even money.

You can build an Oltre up very close to the UCI weight limit as it is, so no need to go for the lighter frame.

With that valley ride, having an aero frame wouldn't be a hindrance so if you can build them both to the UCI limit then why not (most of them seem to be built slightly over the limit around 7-7.2kg based on the GCN vids)

    Just read this....
Geraint Thomas (SKY) accelerated from 32km/h to 41km/h on 4% gradient to snatch the victory from Mikel Nieve (MTS) in the final km of stage 11

I vaguely remember Chris Boardman doing a piece on ITV4 highlights about wind tunnel testing that showed that aero bikes were actually better for climbing than "climbing" bikes but that some riders continued to use the climbing bikes because they felt better and if there was not much in it, that was more important than the technical evidence.

Either the GPS is on the blink or else Kruijswijk has hit the wall.
My money is on the GPS.
