    Sorry, are you implying that this is down to everyone but the poor French riders doping? Personally I feel it's more likely they are just cracking under the hope and expectation of a public hoping to end 30 odd years of hurt (sounds familiar) and a refusal to adapt.

    His DS should have been up on a charge for letting him continue. Massive failure in duty of care to the rider, as was clear from the pictures on the day.

    Can't understand why they don't just give Reichenbach a second leaders role - when Pinot dropped out in the 2016 Tour Reichenbach was on fire

    Madiot won't substitute when its obvious and now he's saying Gaudu is where Pinot was in 2012 - let him take his chance at the Tour.

    The French haven't won a TdF since Hinault, and it's not because they didn't take drugs.
    They haven't won a GT since Jalabert in 95.
    I can't remember the last time a French rider won a meaningful TT.

    French riders tend to stay on French teams, and there's only one French team that's actually worth anything, AG2R.

Eventually English football eventually came to the conclusion that they're just sh!t. French cycling should do the same.

    Why is it important that a French rider win, or be in the race at all, as a spectator I just want to see the most entertaining race, and could careless about where on earth the winner is from. It's the top level of the sport, everyone worked their way up their. Everyone there deserves cheering and encouragement.

    I'm no fan of Chris Froome at all, in fact, I'd much rather see someone else win, BUT I thought it was absolutely disgusting that French fans were booing Chris Froome in last years tour's TT stage.

    It's much ado about nothing. Pinot is French Lady Garden. Not a real contender.

    I think it's good for the sport to have successful French cyclists who create a greater interest in France. It's one of the historic heartlands of the sport and the more interest there is the easier it'll be for the historic races there to get income streams, get road closures etc etc.

    There are a few decent French riders around at the moment but for me it'd be good if Bardet could win a Tour or if Allaphillipe could capture a few monuments even if the French one isn't likely to be on the list.

    It's ironic that the French monument is the one least suitable to any French rider for decades. Last French win in 97, Frédéric Guesdon, who won not much else of any note in the rest of his career.
